Title: Eclectic group of miniatures needed. Now with pictures
Post by: Ethelred the Almost Ready on May 07, 2019, 02:52:22 AM
I am after some very specific figures.
Anything from fantasy, medieval up yo 18th century should be OK.

I need some sort of grumpy teacher - I am picturing male, stocky, frowning.
A  tinker and a tailor (yes, for tinker, tailor, soldier sailor).
Bees.
An unarmed satyr, preferably crouching.

These will do for starters but some further requests for help may be coming.....

Oh, I also want some fantasy barbarians, more shaggy and bearded rather than the smooth-shaven Conan types, but otherwise with the same general aesthetic.

How about Red Box Games Nords for your  barbarians?

Brigade Games' French Scientists are just at the tail end of the 18th Century, but might provide your teacher/schoolmaster type:

Thanks for the suggestions.  I could probably get some centaurs from Eureka as well.

Curious to see what you're gonna do with these figures :D

@Lord Odo - well that would be telling.

I actually have two projects but there is some potential cross over of some figures, so it is more like 1.5 projects.  The one theme that is easy for people to probably work out, based on the majority of my posts is the Silmarillion.

I have luckily found a perfect figure for Thingol.
I do need to find figures suitable for an elf-king's court. Mainly unarmoured, no weapons, men and women.  All dressed up in fancy (elf) clothes.  These are not easy to find. Female figures from the George RR Martin collection at Dark Sword Miniatures.
Mirliton do medieval nobles - men and woman.  Head swaps for female figures is difficult as there are few suitable heads available.
Finding unarmed males (other than wizards) is also difficult.

Once I have a few figures done for my second project I might say what it is, as the figures I need are very specific.

A Tolkien-style vampire, Reaper Bones - the brother of Thuringwethil:

Spooky night effect :D

I found this figure by chance and thought he made a good Thingol.  I don't seem to be able to do fine painting as I once could, but is adequate for my purposes.
