I am delighted to announce that Crooked Dice will be the new owners of the wonderful Colony 87 range of Sci-Fi civilians developed by Jon Boyce.
"I'm delighted that the Colony 87 range is finding a new home with Crooked Dice. Handing over the reins not only means that the range will be more easily accessible, but will hopefully see many more new additions and continued support. I can't wait to see how things develop!"
The first two waves of figures were both successfully crowdfunded producing twelve cracking characters suitable for any starport or off-world outpost.
Crooked Dice will take over the range in the summer and will launch a third Kickstarter with new figures later this year.

How do they compare in size to existing Crooked Dice figures?
For me a comparison with William Killian would be great, but one of the astronauts would do ^__^.

They are wonderful figures. I got the first two sets from Jon. If the next wave of figures is anything like the first two I will definitely be back for more. May even picked up a couple repeats from the first two sets if they are going to be sold individually. Great addition to the Crooked Dice family. Richard

Colony 87 took another step forward today as I took handover of the greens, masters and moulds from Jon. Yesterday sculpting started on the Wave 3 Port Administrator figure and Will Beck also sent a WIP of the final Pet Trader concept art. Things are moving ahead nicely!

We will have a new kickstarter launching next month. It's a new set of wonderful retro sci-fi civilians - plus the previous two waves released by Jon Boyce.
The last of the new sculpts have been finished today. The kickstarter pages are pretty much built and the Wave 3 minis are all on the painting table. They should be of use for anyone wanting to play a more narrative game or sci-fi RPG. Whether you want a planetary governor to escort to safety, a desperate group of starport mechanics to help defend against an alien horde, or a scheming advisor RPG character, these have a use. Or they can be used as objectives rather than another pile of crates. Or just for fun :)

I can live without the froggies (no nostalgia for Slann, I'm afraid) but many of the others will find their way onto a cyberpunk/apocalyptic table :D

The fourth crooked Kickstarter will we launching next week. I am just waiting on KS to approve the campaign while uploading a couple of final pics of the painted figures. The campaign is planned to run for a week or so and will include: a new wave of sci-fi- civilians; a chance to pick up the previous two sets; a bunch of free stretch goals; and some nifty adds ons. However, the guy on the left and the one on the right adn even the girl with blue hair seem to be short and squat, not the nice proportions that the original figs had.
Having said that will probably get the figures any way.

Never fear, they are all in scale with the previous sets and were all sculpted by Michael Anderson to match! The big alien is from Michael Lovejoy and is a nice chunky fella - and the kids are from John Pickford - but are all a perfectly good fit :)

Colony 87 had grown in power over the decades. It was now the most important centre for trade, industry, science and arts in the sector. Millions flocked to the Colony; the rich and the powerful, the ambitious and the desperate. There was a place for them all, no matter how high-born or lowly.
WHAT'S THE CAMPAIGN?
The aim of this project is to produce NEW 28mm scale sci-fi civilian miniatures for the Colony 87 range for use in RPGs and tabletop wargames. Plus there is an opportunity to pick up the figures in the previous two successful kickstarter campaigns - and some new add-ons. This Kickstarter will enable the figures to be production moulded and cast in white metal.
The figures have been designed with a retro sci-fi aesthetic by fantasy illustrator Will Beck and sculpted by ace figure designers Michael Anderson, Micheal Lovejoy, John Pickford, Andrew May and Ernst Veingart. In addition to a new set of SIX civilians, there are new additional characters, pets and accessories available as Add Ons and Stretch Goals.

Anyone looking at these and unsure, I urge you to search for Axiom’s (Magpie and Old Lead) or Asslessman’s (Lead Plague) first and second wave paint jobs for a more gritty interpretation of how they can be done.

This is another great looking kickstarter. I backed the first two and defo this one too.I use the priestess as a psyker for my Astra Militarum and the archivist as master of Ordnance. Of course when I get the rest painted up they will all find jobs in my Imperial army!

The earlier figs are also great for Rogue Stars, or for people roleplaying the 40K setting no matter what rules they're using.

So Ludo and her Ant Puppy are unlocked and to mark this milestone, the first of some extra adds on are now available to include in your rewards. So I am delighted to reveal this pair of resin Hover Cars - the perfect vehicle to nip around the colony, or your favourite mega-city.
Designed by Stuart Nicholson of Tabletop Terrain, these wonderful flying cars are already available from them as STL files for home printing, but we have licensed these from Stuart to put resin versions into production. Check out their full range of vehicle kits too - they are fantastic!

I put in my pledge today. I was lucky to have gotten the first to waves of figures a couple years ago, and I'm thrilled that Crooked Dice has taken it over and will keep it going and growing. Look forward to getting The Third Wave which is a perfect match in terms of the look of the original figures.

Thanks for backing! I am afraid not. The moulds for these have been inherited from the first two campaigns, so offering singles would be a bit of logistical nightmare for this initial production run and fulfilment. Once they go into retail, I'll decide on the pack configuration but that would be an added expense for new moulds, so will have to have a think to see what's viable.
