Today we will take a closer look at the beautiful Steel Fist Miniatures 28mm Landsknechts for the Italian Wars (1510 - 1538) when these stout soldiers formed the core element of the many armies that fought wars for control and influence in the Italian States. Check full review on Wargame News and Terrain, the daily wargame news blog!

They really are superb, looking to have stepped straight off the Bicocca battlefield. I have a large 28mm collection, which includes some Steel Fist gendarmes, for use down my local club. I would love to add some of these landsknechts.

This review is nearly a year old -it was published in the summer of 2018, I believe when this first wave of Landsknechts was released.
However Steel Fist have since released a second wave of Landsknechts, I think earlier this year. More pikemen, arquebusiers, command groups and zweihanders.

Thanks Charlie, I’ll check out their site.

Hi there, thanks for the kind words and you're right this is an older review but still informative I would say.
Remembered that I hadn't shared this particular review before hence the late posting! :D

The Steel Fist site is well worth a look. It is noticeable how different from the traditional depiction of Landsknechts these figures look. I remember how surprised I was to discover that most landsknechts only had a couple of different colours in their clothing, rather than the half dozen or so that most gamers go for.

love 'em! Will be marrying the bodies to some Perry heads to produce Romagnol pikemen.....

Love those Romagnols - one of my favourite troop types from the Italian Wars.

Steel Fist Miniatures are a joy to paint. Crisp detail and just amazing sculpts.
