Well after 35 years of wanting one I finally have my own gaming table. OK I have to share it with my daughter for her sewing projects but that is only reasonable if it lets me have the playing surface of my dreams. No more do I have to suffer to use the kitchen worktop to paint or clear the office desk to play a game.

The base is four Ikea shelving units screwed together using modesty blocks. The top is 25 mm MDF. It has two leaves to extend it to 2100 by 1220. They sit on the top when unused. I toyed with the idea of folding leaves but discarded it due to the difficulty of getting a locking leg. It is mounted on casters so can be moved around the room when not in use. The top still needs painting. If I were to do it again I would probably go for thinner MDF and put an edging strip on.

Nothing wrong with a purpose built table 8)

Here's to hoping you have many a congenial game on that table. I have one for a couple years now and still haven't hosted a game! Hopefully sometime soon.
