This week Mr Steve and I took ourselves off up to the Welsh marches to check out some really interesting historic sites from the early to late medieval period and including the English Civil War.

In this, part one of a post covering our two days, we take a look at Offa's Dyke, Montgomery Castle and the Battle of Montgomery 1644.

Always a bonus when it doesn't rain lol
In Monmouth they say if you can see the Brecons it’s about to rain
And if you can’t its raining 😂

I spent a fortnight in Wales & it only rained twice,
once for 4 days & once for 10.

We were so lucky with the weather on both days as Wales and the borders can catch it at the best of times rather like ourselves down in the West Country.
On the day we walked Offa’s Dyke it rained all the way up in the morning, stopped when we walked and then had another go when we drove to Shrewsbury, stopping again when we went for a look around the town.
The following day was much better, with a pub lunch in glorious sunshine and fish jumping to catch flies on a meandering river - living the dream as they say!
