Finally, several months after finishing the hills for this game we were able to coordinate everybody to re-fight this battle.

Quite the display - before the game! And a pretty nice table. Though the bit in the image by the right hand bridge here on LAF - what is with the flat areas, fields or some sort? And I spied a very European building in one of the pics! Oh, well, we also compromise. Sounds like a great gaming experience all around.

Thank you guys.
The hills were laid over a Hotz field mat so there are some light periods where there shouldn't be. Basically, anything that isn't a hill, creek or swamp was forested according to the map but in contemporary artwork and photos there does seem to be a lot of fields.
Yes, the tudor house does stand out like a sore thumb in the photos. I thought about buying some appropriate buildings from Warfare Miniatures but I was just really supplying the hills.

Where did you get the OB etc? I have just introduce the Montreal group I game with to F&F Regimental and any scenario info would be appreciated.

Mindenbrush, have you come across ACW Gamer? It is an emagazine which is currently up to issue 19. Although Gaines Mill hasn’t yet appeared as a scenario, many other battles have, as well as a wealth of other info such as uniforms, painting tips, rules reviews etc.

There is also the old Charge Magazine, which ran to 40 issues. This is still available to download through Wargame Vault. Again another great source of scenarios, but not sure whether Gaines Mill features as I only have about a dozen copies so far.
The only Gaines Mill scenario I have is from the Altar of Freedom scenario book, All Quiet Along the Potomac. This, however, is for a game with the brigade as the smallest unit. Altar of Freedom and it’s accompanying booklets and free support is available from:

Great looking table, it has been interesting seeing the terrain come together in your earlier posts.

Also if you get the 4 volume "Battles and Leaders" books there are hundreds of battle accounts with OOBs and maps included.

Thanks Leman and Robh for the links, I have Bullets & Dirt from WV and will get the Bayonets, Shells and Balls pdf which contains Gaines Mill.

Bayonets, Shells and Balls is a a book of brigade level scenarios. The others in the series are regimental level, and I think the authors considered Gaines Mill too large to do at that level.
There are a number of other good regimental level scenario books out there:
In the east - Enduring Valor, vols. 1 and 2 by Scott Mingus is scenarios covering
the battle of Gettysburg
There is a companion volume of scenarios, Undying Courage for
Antietam
In the west - I have three scenario books by Brad Butkovich, available from
Wargame Vault
* The River of Death (Chickamauga)
* Criminal Blunder (Pickett’s Mill)
* The Road to Atlanta (Does almost what it says on the tin - but
doesn’t actually get to Atlanta)
I believe he has also produced one for Antietam as well, in similar format.

Thanks for the links and info guys. It looks like the next battle is going to be Shiloh so I am going to be sniffing around for some good maps and info.

I think our OOB's came from one of the Brigade or Regimental Fire and Fury books; I am not sure as I only supplied some of the terrain and Nate supplied the scenario, rules and miniatures.
