Wiley Games are soon to be releasing the Wasteland Warriors supplement for the excellent Fistful of Lead series of skirmish games. :)
Having been a fan of the Fistful of Lead series for sometime and been involved in the recent Tales of Horror supplement we have been very fortunate to be able to play test Wasteland Warriors ahead of its publication.
Here is a simple scenario involving two rival gangs who are scavenging for supplies in an abandoned village.
The gangs primary focus is to find ammunition for their weapons. Bullets and fuel are always in short supply. A common feature in FFoL is if your figure rolls a one you gun is empty and you need to reload. In the the Wasteland Warriors supplement this means you are out of ammo for the entire game unless you can find some bullets quick!
Ahead of the game each side placed some objective markers, in this instance barrels and crates which could contain supplies of ammunition. One aspect of Wasteland Warriors for campaign games involves finding supplies, keeping hold of them and trading them later for better equipment, etc.
Each gang made for their first objective marker, but it wasn't long before the shooting started and all Hell let loose! The punks eventually came out on top with three surviving members. There would have been one more if the unfortunate soul hadn't got in the way of his mates flamethrower ;) lol

Looking Great as always.
-
It was a shit game lol
-
Looks fun :)
I have been looking at the Fistful rules for a while now. I see there are specific card packs for each supplement but my question is does one set fit all or do you need to purchase them all?
Thanks

In this instance we used the Galactic Heroes deck as the cards for Wasteland Warriors have not been printed yet.
The cards are the same in Galactic Heroes and Tales of Horror and I believe will be the same for Wasteland Warriors. Its just the artwork on the cards that is different. Its themed around the genre of the supplement to give period flavour.
You can use a regular deck of ordinary playing cards which is what we did to start with until we were familiar with the game. Certain cards in the deck have special actions that can be used when the card is played. An example could be the six (any suit). This is a free reload card which when played enables one figure to reload his weapon for no additional activation cost. If you play with the official deck then the card has Reload printed on it and a nice drawing of a weapon. Using an ordinary deck you just have to remember what specific cards do.
The decks for the original FFoL and the Horse and Musket version are slightly different though.
I hope that helps.

Yes that helps a lot. Thank you for the reply.

Very nice looking game :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Nick beat me to it. Yes, you can use an ordinary deck of cards.
If you want to try the rules out without a big monetary investment, the pdfs are in the $7 range. If you decide they're or you, then you can invest in the printed books and cards.

Game looked good and the figures look excellent; quality paintjobs. Wasteland Warriors is going to be fun!
Just on the cards thing, I played the original fistful of Lead for years with a normal pack of cards but I have bought packs of the genre specific ones because:
A) there's something satisfying about using the cards with the genre artwork;
B) as others have said, the cards help players who may not be as familiar with the rules remember what the cards do (this is invaluable in bigger games and games at cons, etc); and
C) they're cool!

The FoL game system is really good, and the games are FUN. This "period" looks really interesting, and I have those same figures waiting in a box for a new opportunity...
-
It was a shit game lol
So you lost yet again lol lol lol lol lol lol lol
Nice looking game though :)

Meh. Looks a lot like Mexico...
:`
;)

great looking game.

Lovely to see those Snapdragon buildings and bits. Always reminds me of the early Fallout games. Great set up.
-
Great stuff :)
-
When will Wasteland warriors be available (In the UK, in hard copy)?
Plus another recommendation to the Fistful of Lead family of rules.
They are quick, easy to learn, you can use just about any figures, but don't need
lots to start playing, AND they are FUN!!!!
For all the above reasons the school wargames club love them.
-
I’ll try to Oshiro copies the same time I released them here, late September.
-
Thanks for the reply.
I forgot to say that I too like the Snapdragon stuff. Shame it is no more.

Ye but post-apocalyptic Mexico :D ;D

Excellent stuff! Makes me want to join.

Excellent game. I only hope you all played in character with copious amounts of fake tan and liberal application of oil.
Will the rules work for a grimmer, darker PA setting?

I sure Jaye will answer, but the Fistful games normally allow for certain elements (in this case mutants, robots, etc) to be optional, so if you just want a darker setting (The Road, etc) you can do that. The traits would then represent skills and talents rather than the product of a mutation.
-
Steve, you can apply the rules to any setting you like. Although why you wouldn’t want to play oiled up muscle men in leather and furs is beyond me. ;) lol

Great looking game Nick. 8)
Good to see all that Snapdragon resin on the table. Interested in the WW supplement to FFoL; I must get back to my Post Apoc collection some day. ::)

BLAM looks like a good target to aim for. I have a sneaky suspicion there might be some Post Apoc gaming going on. ;) :D

As with Galactic Heroes, Wasteland Warriors is a toolkit. Use what you want, leave the rest. There's a campaign system similar to Fistful of Lead: Reloaded but with added survival elements. I created my own weird future, with mutants and crazy creatures, but as I said, you can use what you want. It's not tied to any miniatures line. In fact I'm using about 10 different manufacturers and counting.
-
So I could play Thundarr? That is always my goal! :)
-
Absolutely! I specifically made it with Thundarr, Kamandi and Gamma World in mind. We have talking, gun toting animals, psychic plants, techno Necromancers, mutants, robots, ...well you get the picture.
But, you can dump all that and just use it for grittier, darker games if you want.

Absolutely! I specifically made it with .... Gamma World in mind
I thought I noted a trace of that in the spoilers you've provided on Facebook :)
-
Cover sort of says it all....
-
Loving that cover!
-
Splendid! ;D
-
Maybe I missed it, but when will it be released?

September time I believe, not long to wait! :)

Yes. End of September

Oh, cool. I was juuuuuust about to buy Galactic Heroes when I read that there was a post apoc version coming out, so I thought I would hold off. I don't play much (I could end this sentence here) sci-fi, and when I typically play it is post apoc. Fist Full of Lead has had good reviews just about everywhere I've seen the name pop up, so I figure the post apoc version will be worth the purchase.
What will the big differences be between this and Galactic Heroes? Do you think it would be easier to assimilate sci-fi to Wasteland Warriors, or post apoc to Galactic Heroes?
-
Totally depends on what your vision of the post apocalyptic future. Right now, you could easily use GH for Post Apoc games. I and others have.
Wasteland Warriors will be adding mutations, creatures and a campaign system similar to the original Fistful of Lead. We'll be playing a game tonight so stay tuned for an AAR report. check the blog in the mean time here:

Galactic Heroes pdf is a paltry $7. Not a huge investment to see how the rules work and if they're for you. If you like them, you can pick up the printed versions. Just a thought.
-
You'll still need Galactic Heroes or the Fistful of Lead Core rules to play Wasteland Warriors though. It's a genre supplement rather than a stand alone set, like the new Tales of Horror book. You can't really go wrong with the pdf, though I like having the books too!
