Title: Just a quick review. Green Stuff World Decals
Post by: snitcythedog on June 17, 2019, 05:39:03 PM
I recently purchased some of the cargo containers from the latest Reaper Kickstarter.  Once I knew they were on the way I decided they needed some graffiti.  As I generally suck at free hand painting I decided to try the graffiti decals from Green Stuff World.

I picked up three different packs to get some variety.

The decals themselves are quite nice with very little edging.  The colored decals are a bit thick but I found that that helped when applying them by keeping them intact during application and when pushing air bubbles out from the surface.   Due to the area they cover and with how thick they are you do need to put in the work in to push them into the surface and remove all of the air bubbles.  Even with the effort that I put in I still had a few that made it through that needed a slice and reset into place after they were dry.

With the large decals preparing the surface is important but there are several scale model tutorials out there that are helpful.

Overall they were nice to work with and took weathering well.

Here are how they turned out.

Very nice; they look quite realistic on those containers, so job's a good 'un!

Thanks for the review as well; I'm thinking of doing graffiti as a combination of freehand and decals, and these were already on the radar. Good to know they're as usable as I hoped... :)

Nice one and love how they look over the ridges, really natural. Also great they have white backing, this is a must for graffiti.
I'be been using lots of decals on my Cyberpunk scenery and it works well for the bigger images and tags. For the smaller tags I went to the local arts & crafts store this week and bought several acrylic pens by Molotow. Here's a shot of my first attempts on my new Antenociti Cinder block walling. It works really well! Super opaque, easy to use and as it is paint you can use a brush to add some streaking. Really fun and fast to work with.
