Was wanting to know what companies make game mats for the Old West.
Thanks.

Don't know but the old west can be green grass, dry grass, burned grass, desert, dirt, rocky, woodland, forest, snow covered, or even urban - or just a town with dirt road so you might want to specify what you are looking for a bit more. And that list isn't all inclusive, I'm sure!

I have a 3x3 FAT MAT that my son gave meas a present. Works great as a small town. Otherwise I use brown cloth purchased from JoAnn Fabrics. 5x12

My preferred desert mat is actually the "Steppe" mat from Deep Cut Studios. It's arid, pebbly, dry grass...and it's hints of beiges and greens and is essentially a perfect 'do everything mat' while being just arid enough for desert games.

Agree with Elbows, Deep Cut mats are really nice. I'll throw out a plug for the new Knuckleduster desert mats too - I got one with the Kickstarter and I absolutely love it, and plan to get their 6x4 too :D *especially nice if you're stateside, shipping can be brutal on the Deep Cut stuff*

Thanks Guys,
What I am after is a mat that is specifically made for the Old West.
I saw one that I liked by Game Mats and More. But, when I went back to find
the company online, I can't. Not even sure where I found it in the first place.
Frustrating. So I was now wondering if other companies made a mat that is
for Old West gaming.

We used a desert mat for dry dusty streets.

I use a mat from Tinywargames

Black B,
I saw that one. How do you like it?

For your information, the guy behind this site ( http://wars175x.narod.ru/wargameprint/index.html ) is designing background for battlemaps, and sells them.
You can order any size, and your receive in return a hight-res picture that you can print on various support.
I already ordered a few designs, and it works very well. I print them on double-sided PVC canvas.
Hope it helps !

Sorry not to get back sooner, I like the Tiny Wargames mat a lot, although I had them remove the railway track from mine.
I have used it many times and it still looks good.

Some friends here in the states have ordered from Tinywargames and always face long waiting times. Hopefully you will have better luck if you decide to order from him.

He's in the middle of fullfilling a KS at the moment, so could be a wait.

This is just a fleece blanket dabbed/ flicked with paint, works well enough for me!

Nice set up.

I made my own from some felt painted with sand-coloured emulsion and then with odd bits of darker ground and green round the edges to suggest rough ground.

I use the rather superb 'Steppe' pattern from Deep Cut Studios - and I'm happy to point out they just released a new, higher-detail, version 2.0 (or whatever you want to call it):

Just a wonderful "do everything" mat. Arid enough for desert games...just enough green for pretty much any other game. Doesn't scream desert, but doesn't scream anything really. Just a solid all-purpose design. It's the one I use most often of my current three mats.
