The start of a new side project. Death in the Dark Continent in 15mm. First up a unit of Zulu War British from Khurasan Miniatures.
-
This shall be most curious to watch. Painting quality not in doubt.
But why such thick bases for 15 mm figures? Thick bases plague larger scales but not necessary for 15 mm. I use sheet metal bases and they work great and blend so much better into the table.
Will Old Glory/Blue Moon be making a substantial appearance? What about various and sundry critters? Hoping so on both accounts.
-
Lovely work Steve 8)
Base thickness doesn’t bother me, sets them off nicely.
-
Exquisite ....and 15mm. :o
It’s an unnecessary diversion but they need a thicker base (though what is it? a mere 3mm or so?) if they are not to be picked up by the minis.

Exactly :-)
I'd rather repaint a base edge than a figure.

I do have a few Blue Moon to paint :-)

Lovely. Not that I have any complaints about Essex, but these do look a bit nicer than the 15mm Essex ones I used back in the day.
-
Superb brushwork, lovely looking figures and who cares about the base thickness, they look spot on to me! ;D
-
Splendid! :-* (including the bases) ;)
-
Nice work on those 15s 👍
-
Don't get me wrong - the top of the bases look great - but I have a thing about thick bases. I sort of get it with 25s and larger but as a 'life-long' 15 mm figures player, I don't see a problem with sheet metal bases. They pick up pretty easy. And I have, literally, hundreds and hundreds of sheet metal bases with thousands of figures on them. Then again, I paint game pieces which are meant to be handled - and well sealed to allow for that. Different strokes, I guess.
Now paint away Deano and I'll happily attempt to be half as good as you in my own painting! ;)

2nd unit of 15mm Zulu War British Infantry from Khurasan Miniatures.
-
Nice again !!
-
Which Khurasan range did these figures come from? I don't see Zulus in the historical ranges - or missed them if they are there.

They're not out yet, I blagged a few pre-release :-)

15mm Zulu War British Command base from Khurasan Miniatures
-
Ooh I like these. Nicely painted 👍
-
Great brushwork on these! I love what you did with them.
-
Another 15mm Zulu War British Command base from Khurasan Miniatures. I don't need it for the game, but it would've been rude not to paint them up :-)
-
Lovely use of vibrant colours. Where did you acquire the flags ??

By God, those moustaches and sideburns are magnificent!

Although it doesn't look like it in the photo, the jackets are all different :-) I think Vallejo Green/Brown, US Drab and English Uniform were 3 of the base colours.

15mm British Artillery from Khurasan Miniatures.

Deano,
Superb work as always. Any idea when Khurasan might be releasing its Colonial miniatures - I have yet to find them on their website?
