After a lot of work last year and a move to a new location I finally managed to finish a few gangsters and some cops. For details and even more pulp stuff see
www.amazing-tintales.de (http://www.amazing-tintales.de).

PS: Detective James Kearney (the tiny guy) was a donation from Driscoles. I really like him although I was not sure first if he would go with the much taller Copplestone/Pulp minis. Thanks Driscoles!

Beautiful stuff. Great job.
Are some of the figs in the bottom pic Dixon?

Very, very nice paint jobs, the blues are a little high-key for me, but that's really just a matter of taste!
Love the smooth highlighting though!

bloody amazing/fantastic/outstanding/etc. work  really, mate, you and your painting shades/lights are incredible, i'm very impressed! I need to come to Munich and get my hands on them

definitely nice paintjobs and interesting style. they must look awesome during games!

Great job. I love the bright colors. They look like they just popped off a Dick Tracy comic strip.
Thanks for sharing!

I really like the guys with stubble (both 2nd left in each picture). That's the best stubble I've seen. Any chance of a "how to"?
The colours on the swell dames are good too.

wow, wow, wow, WOW. :o
Though I have seen the Mobsters in the SD Competition for a few weeks now I can't stop looking. Simply stunning. I really think about burning all my brushes an get back to things I am better with (like drinking beer) ;-)
Any chance you tell us how long it takes you for a figure of this quality?
And I really would be interested in the skin tones you use :-)
Please, paint more!!

Amazing colors and blending! Rich is right, they look straight out of Dick Tracy. That's great!
And just for Dt. Kearney in .45 Adventures:
Flaw (Overcompensating): Detective Kearney is notoriously sensitive about his size. Anyone who intentionally teases him about it is likely to get his nose busted in for his trouble. Any time in the game a player uses the word "short," Kearney must make a Brains test. If he fails, he charges into close combat with the nearest enemy model, where he will try to bust their nose in. Note that "short" does not have to be used in the context of describing Kearney, and does not have to be intentional. This test only has to be made once per turn.
For example: Grimm measures a distance, and then says: "Oops. I'm just short this turn." Hagen then has to roll for Kearney's Overcompensating test. If Alex were to say: "Please hand me the short glass with the whiskey in it" later in the turn, Kearney would not have to test again.

I guess that game would suck for Hagen if you happend to have Indiana Jones and Short Round on the board.

The paint jobs are amazing.
Abbot, how do you paint up the blue jean material? Like the figures you painted below. Do you mix paints or do stuff straight from the bottle? What paints are you using?

@all: thanks guys. Feels good to read those comments... :)
Are some of the figs in the bottom pic Dixon?
The gangster on the right and Boss O'Meara (4th from right) are Dixon. The one on the left is Harlequin and the rest are Coppelstone.
...the blues are a little high-key for me...
Yes. I'm not fully satisfied especially with the cops either. They are really a little bit to shiny...
That's the best stubble I've seen. Any chance of a "how to"
It is just GW-Dwarf Flesh (I think any other brand would do as well) mixed with a little black and thinned with some water.
I really think about burning all my brushes an get back to things I am better with (like drinking beer)
Come on, Zoogla. That's fishing for compliments! You are one of the best painters around and you know that... Anyhow: drinking beer is also a nice hobby! The skin tones are just GW Tanned Flesh, Dwarf Flesh, Elf Flesh and some Flesh Wash.
Any chance you tell us how long it takes you for a figure of this quality?
Hmm. That's a good question. The problem is: I am everything but a straight painter. Sometimes I paint one part of a mini for just a few minutes and then the mini disappears in the depths of my storage rack (and stays there for days, weeks or even months...). But I would guess that it takes at least 2 hours for a very simple mini (e.g. the cops are quite simple because there is not much Schnick-Schnack to paint). Other minis would take longer...
@PeteMurray: something very similar to your 'Overcompensating' flaw sprung to my mind when I put Dt. Kerney next to Dt. Calahan (the big one) for the first time. But your proposal is much more sophisticated so I'll use it for Dt. Kearny (if you don't mind)..
...how do you paint up the blue jean material...
For the jean material of the hillbillies and one of the gangsters above I used Revell Aqua Color 'Blue' and mixed in a little white for the highlights. Revell Aqua Color is very thick and you will have to mix in some water (at least I do). Although I only have five or so pots of Aqua Color I quite like that stuff somehow...

Man! That's amazing! I have to throw all my policemen into the acetone pot and try again!!
I also love the jeans colour! Thanks for the tip!

amazing stuff, they have a great sense of style, they are really top draw

Just............... :o

Grimm is right. You just have to be at the next Pulp meeting, or else... ;-)
And thanks for the compliments, but I don't think I can compete with your style of painting in any way. I really wish I can take a look at your minis in real life one day!

I really like your painting style. It works especially well on these figures.
