Title: Midblight Miniatures Fraying Thread
Post by: MrMidblight on August 19, 2019, 09:22:53 AM
Greetings Intrepid Lead Adventurers.. I hope you'll indulge me with your attention briefly (I did buy TheProprietor a beer in TheCastle for ...what was it .. his 35th[?] the other week).

- I, am an obscure mini-sculptor from the last century  ::)
- 'Midblight Miniatures' is am embryonic range of slightly more whimsical fantasy figures I'm tinkering with (not quite available for sale yet, but am narrowing in on one of those Kickstarters everybody seems to love so much).
 Attached a couple of pics of the initial 'gangs'
I've a Fbook page/InstaGrim and Twitter (struggling the most with grasping that one).. likes etc greatly appreciated (it's like a comforting pat on the head):

 - Thanks for taking a look :}

Thanks all (I was a bit higher profile in the noughties... this is what happens when you stubbornly refuse to play social media for a decade or so  :'( )!
- I know there are still many who don't (in some ways, things were simpler when TheForums ruled TheWeb).

 Here's Dewey the archer with a splash of colour (I was a decent painter back in the day; things have advanced a bit since then!)

Hopefully you'll have a website? I'm a bit over social media except for the two forums I'm on.

While not an aesthetic I'd usually paint or play with, I want to say that these are some extremely fantastic figures and I hope they do great. Stunning.

 Ta.
That's the plan (website).
- I'll be running a modest Kickstarter initially (either the Dwarfs, the gobbos, or both + a couple of stretch goals for fun), and if that goes reasonably well, I'll enlist an assist setting up a website (which will require a bit of art [can do], technical nous [less so]).

The Midblight 'thing' was kind of a self-challenge to see if I could come up with a  fun setting and characters of my own (done), get me out of the house and into a few gaming conventions (before I need wheeling in!) ..

I know I shouldn't but, they are very full of character  :D

Also from imagination and hands of olden times to  ::)

Any idea when your looking to go to KS?

You probably mention it somewhere else but no access to complex risky places such as facebook from work..

If I know roughly when, have a better chance of having money for it   :D

   I think sometime in September (toward the end).
-  I've got mastercastings of the initial pictured 10; I suppose I've been delaying the KS as I'd prefer to have them all painted (needs time) and on  some scenery (which I lack).
- Plenty of sculptors go ahead without fancypants production values (but I'd like things to look at least half decent to give the minis the best shot)?

- KSing them a batch at a time is also an option (people do single minis with success), I'll probably sell them as gang A/B (or both) though (made as affordable as poss) as if I have moulds made for each individual model, that'll cost me quite a bit more.
 - Ta for the interest!

I have greatly enjoyed some of the recent small miniature KSs that have been put forward.

Oathsworn, and Midlam come to mind, short, sweet, and metal in your hands very quickly.

Look forward to seeing this and more from you in the future as you grow your range

Been waiting to buy those goblins ever since you showed the first ones aeons ago, so you'd better include them in the KS. ;)

I'm off to China for 3 weeks in October, so hope I won't miss it.

A decent ride out (China).
Am weighing toward both sets plus a few extras.

- Thanks for the encouragement; getting them up for sale is the 'last little step' (seeing mini-magpie's painted versions the best bit), I suppose I've been 'deliberating' quite a bit as that needs to go well.
 - Hopefully if they do alright, it'll afford me a  bit of time to sculpt the following couple of sets :}

I was lucky to get an advance copy of Ma Grita (after pestering the author for a week). Here's my interpretation of her, hope you like it!

Certainly delighted with that (OSL and NMM weren't on the playlist back when I was a decent painter)! Proper DarkFairyTale feel to her (thanks Niclkas)

- My modest little Kickstarter got funded OK, just ticking along  to unlocking a few fun ancillary character stretch goals (including a sweet little Owlbear Hatchling).
- Please do have a swizz:

I've added 'Kickstarter' onto the thread title while you have the Kickstarter running as it let's people know about it from the board front page.

Much obliged :}
- Midblight Miniatures 'First Expedition' Kickstarter is chugging along at a nice steady pace now; last weekend coming up if you'd like to avail yourself of a few of my peculiar creations!
  Thanks everyone who's supported/assisted/paused to take a look at the project (I have leaned on several shadowy [one bright] advisors, just a little).

  Just about there with the final stretch goal, a sweet little Outcast Owlbear Hatchling...

I did (12yrs ago maybe- and they're still reproducing)!
- I also did some for GW (but they weren't quite as good).
- and a couple for BadSquiddo more recently..

Can't believe I missed this thread, one of my favourite sculptors! These look great, count me in for some of those goblin harpies and the witch :D

Thanks (that's excellent)!
On the Kickstarter, they're down as 'Ma Grita's Malevolent Brood (kinda Sawney Bean raiders).. the proper title was 'Ma Grita's Grotkin Chiropterrors' (but that didn't fit in the little text box).

-'Gorboyles' was another option... I suppose they're mutie-goblins at heart (Citadel used to do a set.. I remember a shaggy variant?).. 'Bio Doom-Divers' !?
  Dolph's ferrit 'Ami', is sulking in that great hat, having garnered considerably less tummy-rubs than The Moonpug :}

'The Narrow Aperture Dwindles'

My Midblight Miniatures'First Expedition' inaugural Kickstarter project is drawing to a close..
~ I just wanted to drop in and thank you for your support/ for pausing to have a look at the minis, and for providing a platform (LeadAventure) :}
  ~I'll stick a few painted figs in the gallery as I complete them (painting so much more relaxing than summoning the things).
