Hi All, it's been a while since my last post. Lots of stuff has been accomplished, the Dutch range is doing well and is growing. But now it's time to add something different, the enemy!! May '40 Miniatures is working on an extensive range of early war Fallschirmjäger. we're looking at 100+ different mini's.
Here are some pictures as these will speak for themselves ;)
-
Good looking start :-* :-* :-*
How do they scale up with other ranges
-
Here they are next to some Warlord and foundry mini's, painted by a friend in Australia.
-
Range looks good. The Foundry 20mm early FJ are my "gold standard" - being Perry and all. lol
-
Oh wow; they look awesome! :-*
Do you think they would properly mix with Artizan FJ's? Because that's what I've got at the moment...
And will there also be airborne troops, or will you concentrate on purely FJ? Thinking of Valkenburg here, obviously... ;)
-
Not sure how they compare to Artizan really, don't have any mini's from them. The aim of my ranges (yes, there will be more than Dutch continental and German FJ's ;-) ) is that they are historically acuurate and more to proportiaon than is normal in 28mm.
If the Kickstarter funds all the things I would like for the FJ's and with room to spare we could do some more bits and pieces like luftlande troops etc. But there's more FJ stuff that's not even been shown yet :-P
-
Cool.
If they are along the same vein as the Dutch Infantry, we'll be good, as those work pretty well along/against my Artizan FJ's. But they're in opposing armies; not sure if there would be discrepancies when mixed into the same unit.
Guess I'll just have to wait and see, and buy some when they are released then ;)

Here's 2 pics showing the new FJ next to a Dutch sergeant.

The FJ uniform was a bit more baggy than the Dutch one, so they are a bit more bulky looking than the Dutch, which suits me just fine, considering the Artizan FJ (and their other lines btw) are a tad shorter and bulkier than the May '40 Dutch I have done so far.
So with a bit of smart basing, they should mix and match perfectly.
Thanks for those pics :)

The pictures with the green stuff and some I have seen poorly painted put me off but these latest pictures are much nicer both painted and bare metal.
Would love some close ups - giving them a dilute black wash before photo also helps to show sculpting detail.
I like the helmets (several other FJ ranges fall down there) realistic looking weapons too. :-*

Kickstarter will start September 3rd!!!
-
Make sure you post the link, though I also have an eye on the Flags of War '45 Government troops kickstarter too, and I can't do both in one month. Decisions, decisions..
-
I rather like those. I almost regret buying all those Crusader FJs.

As one would. ;)
-
Well, yes and no. These shiny new ones look good and equipment wise they are more accurate for 1940 and before but the Crusader figures do almost paint themselves. I like ‘em which is as well as I have enough of the buggers.
-
Ow these paint themselves very nicely ;-)

Some more pics :D
