For some bizarre reason, Airfix are celebrating the 40th anniversary of Motorhead's album "Bomber" by selling a limited edition of their Heinkel kit in Motorhead livery.

I made the original, non-Motorhead version of this kit when I was a little kid, and have always been a fan of Lemmy (I'm a bit more into Hawkwind than Motorhead, mind). I have absolutely no use for this thing, but I kind of want it anyway.

God that takes me back! I've still got the hearing damage.
And dammit now I want one too
-
Well shoot, now I have another model on my list.
-
goddamit....that's to good to miss...
Ordered!
🤘🏻🤣🤘🏻

Bonkers. Is it April the 1st?
I suppose the people in charge at Airfix now were Grebs back in the day, rock on!
Wouldn't it have been brilliant if they did a big Lemmy head leering to put in the front as well?
-
Jesus Christ, 40 years! I saw them at Hammersmith Odeon my hearing's been bad ever since ;)
-
Now I have a film running in my head of the pilot listening to the Hawkwind song Motorhead, haha word association...
The Spartan Dregs did a song called Coastal Command.
-
May well be the coolest thing ever. I bet Lemmy would love it lol

Just wait and see what Airfix have in store for the 40th anniversary of Boy George.
And to think, they have less than five years before they can re-issue their Me-262 as a tribute to the Blue Oyster Cult LP.
Drug fucked marketing ideas finally realised.

Me too, row D in the stalls right in front of the speaker stack lol

I would like to remind that a year from now we will also be able to celebrate 40th anniversary of the release of the Enola Gay single by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. Does Airfix make a model for B-29 bomber?
"Enola Gay, is mother proud of Little Boy today..."
-
This thread is responsible for bringing back fond memories of Hawkwind gigs and started me listening to Warrior On The Edge Of Time whilst I'm painting!
-
Perhaps Hawkwind albums should be best reserved for painting fantasy figures - listening to them while painting historicals may lead to somewhat unexpected results.
-
Airifix do make a B-29, or at least they did in the 1970s, when I was a little aeroplane-obsessed kid. Unfortunately the cover of that single doesn't feature any kind of OMD-exclusive livery to put in the kit, unlike "Bomber."
As far as Hawkwind goes, you could always listen to "Hasan-i-Sabah" when painting your medieval Muslims. Though probably best not to get too carried away with the "Hashish! Hashish! Hashish!" part or your painting might suffer.

I guess an alternative could be to provide decals for the historical Enola Gay - there should be plenty of pictorial evidence somewhere. Also, next August marks the 75th anniversary of the (in)famous bombing flight.

So this is how Airfix rejuvenite their commercial line these days? Can we expecte the Stratofortress with new decals soon to?

Much as I love Motorhead and Hawkwind, that album has a place in my heart too. :)
I'm not sure if Airfix have ever done a B-52. Revell do one, I think. I remember the B-29 was a bit of a monster, so the B-52 must be bloody massive in 1:72.

What drugs? If I wasn't so snowed under I'd so buy that Heinkel.
At least it's not the lame-arse:

Looks like it is only a new decal sheet and paint scheme.
I wonder if anyone will make the effort to add the chin and ventral turrets. Would certainly be a different entry for IPMS competitions.

Want! .. ok, not that.. must have.
I saw them at the Caird Hall.. that then had to be closed for repair due to the structural damage. Luckily I wasn't stuck in front of the speaker stack. lol

Pardon lol
