I recently came across Aventine Miniatures http://www.aventineminiatures.co.uk/index.html (http://www.aventineminiatures.co.uk/index.html) range of Etruscans. Since Etruscan history is one of my interests I ordered six packs as the possible start of an Impetus army. since this company is new I thought I would offer up a little review and comparison.
First off, the communication and customer service are top notch. Keith was very prompt and accomodated my request for some variant shields and extra spears and threw in a bonus mounted figure to boot! They arrived in about a week (not bad in my experience with ordering from the UK.)
The figures themselves are sculpted in a more "robust" style very reminiscent of Mark Sims. My castings were very crisp with minimal mold lines (almost none) and those very well placed along clothing folds and other convenient places. No mold lines running through the face! lol
From my limited knowledge they are very accurate and will make excellent opponents or allies for Crusader's Samnites and/or Republican Romans. Aventine also plans to release their own Romans from a slightly earlier period later on.

I took the pictures while simultaneously grilling dinner and minding my two-year-old son, so the quality is not the greatest. o_o
One thing to note in the size comparison shots is that the Aventine figures are on a 3mm thick peice of card while the GB and OG figures are on a thin peice of sheet steel. The height difference is not as much as it appears. I would mix these figures in an army, but not in the same unit.

Absolutely beautiful miniatures, and a beautiful paint job to boot. The sculptor's 3rd Century Romans are probably my favorite ancient figs, bar none. The Etruscans are gorgeous. One of these days we'll decipher their language, perhaps sooner than later if we can get through that damned library at Herculaneum...

My friend just ordered a large pile of these, and they certainly are spectacular figures. I love how yours are painted, and as a hardcore Impetus player, I look forward to seeing yours based-up.

I finally managed to finish a base worth of the Etruscans. I have another base worth primed and will most likely place an order for reinforcements this afternoon. They really are a joy to paint!
