Title: Bolt Action D-Day campaign Scenario 1: Operation Titanic
Post by: canonuk on November 05, 2019, 07:02:27 PM
Hey,

Played the first scenario of the Bolt Action D-Day campaign book which focuses on Operation Titanic, the SAS deception mission in the early hours of D-Day.

We played half of it in the dark, lit only by a coloured night-light, but when the battery ran flat we had to put on the main light! We used little led lights for muzzle flash markers

It was a really fun game, and ended with a narrow win for the German forces. The SAS managed to set up two gramophones but didn't get enough troops away before being overwhelmed by increasing numbers of German troops arriving.

Fantastic board, and those pictures in the dark are incredibly atmospheric!

I know it's not to everyone's tastes but I do find Bolt Action a lot of fun.

Great looking table, love the lighting.

Yup bolt action = lots of Hollywood fun, and let’s be honest here guys, yes the history and research is very interesting, but playing toy soldiers needs to be fun.

Favourite war film, Kelly’s Heroes, obviously!   lol

Thanks all. Yeah, it was a really fun game.  I'm looking forward to the next scenario - Pegasus Bridge!

Just need to build the bridge first...

My thoughts were to play Pegasus bridge AND Ranville bridge in one big game?
Line up 3 wargame tables with a gap between each one, representing the two water ways.
It would be a magnificent looking game, and a biggie too.
