Title: Czars armoured car company
Post by: stimpy on December 06, 2019, 08:08:02 AM
Morning

I'm about to delve into this time period for the 1st time and after reading about this company, I've decided to go for it!

Has anyone done similar at all?
Think I've pretty much sorted the armoured cars but I'm unsure on the trucks they used and looking at the infantry, they look to have great coats and caps.

Any suggestions on minis would be great!
This is for 28mm

Thanks alot

Not heard of this unit but Empress Miniatures have a very nice range of nearly all the armoured cars the Russians used in WW1 and RCW. They are in their VBCW section.

Thanks.

Yeah, I've already earmarked the vehicles.
It was a RNAS company led by Locker Lampson.
Really interesting read, google it!

In the Imperial Army during the First World War, 47 armored units operated. In addition, were operating on the Russian front a Belgian detachment (350 people, 13 armored vehicles, 6 cars, 20 trucks, 18 motorcycles and 130 bicycles), and a British detachment (566 people, 28 armored cars, 22 trucks, 7 cars, 5 ambulances cars, 3 car repair shops, 3 wireless telegraph stations, 4 tank trucks, a truck crane, a kitchen and 47 motorcycles).

You’ll need to source an appropriately scaled Lanchester armoured car. IIRC someone made one once but damned if I can remember who and no it’s not the Empress Mk II Lanchester but it’s entirely different Great War predecessor.*

Looks a bit like a sawn off Rolls Royce.

Just remembered, it’s First Corps.

Thanks, I saw those and Empress have a lovely range too.

My problem is the infantry as most pics show them with peaked daps and large coats...

Anyone have any ideas?

Should I just go with peaked cap ww1 british?

Have you considered getting the Warlord Winter World War II set? Heavy surgery might do the trick with added heads.

Likewise, have a look at Copplestone's "Back of Beyond" Range - "Siberian Rifles" with some headswaps should do the trick as well.

Heres a pic, if I've done it properly...
