Title: Agis' Death May Die minis
Post by: Agis on December 07, 2019, 09:55:04 PM
Cthulhu: Death May Die
“The ritual cannot be stopped, but the cultists’ plans might still be.
The cultists have been painstaking preparing for this moment for quite some time. An Elder God, a being adrift in a different dimension, has reached out into their minds, giving them the knowledge necessary to awaken it and bring it into our own world, unleashing its hellish powers on the unsuspecting populace. Too late did the Investigators find out about it. The final ritual has begun. But with a little luck, the god might just be vulnerable for a moment after being summoned. That’s when they can shoot it in the face.
Cthulhu: Death May Die puts players in charge of Investigators looking to defeat an Elder God that is being summoned to Earth. They are running late, as the summoning ritual is already underway. But if they can collect enough clues to find a weakness, or alter the ritual just enough to cause one, they can blast the god to death before it gets a foothold. Working together, players will fight cultists, search for answers, and try to keep their already-broken minds from warping even further.”
from the KS

Another very successful CMON Kickstarter, since I like Cthulhu I pledged. I was NOT disappointed, some great minis!

Very easy to paint, little moldlines - a pleasure!

The Black Goat of the woods featured 6 Dark Young minis! I liked the minis right from the start so I just had to paint one.

Brilliant.  Like these a lot.   :)

(incidentally, the unknown monster on your site is the Spawn Horror from Mirliton Nightmares range.)

When grenadier originally sold that " unknown" mini it was sold as nyarlathotep.

I think it's supposed to be his 'bloody tongue' guise.

Lovely.  How's the plastic quality on the boardgame minis?  They certainly look good.  One of the best Baby Shubbie sculpts I've seen.

Is the Kid carrying a lit Molotov or is the flame a spell effect?  Hard to tell from that angle.

The Kid has a spell effect in her hand. I don’t have the Black Woods expansion, but only the basic set, but my minis are okay. Relatively few mould lines. Yet, it’s still soft plastic.

Awesome painting, Agis!

Lovely as always.  Those sculpts really are raising the bar for CMON.

Always amazed by your quality and output.

Nice interesting sculpts as well. Wouldn't mind having a go at those. I need some C'thulu monsters for....
Well 'cause they're cool...

That was fast and looks good too. :) I also got my set about a week ago. We managed to play one quick game immediately but after that I haven't even opened the rest of the boxes!

Nevertheless, it was especially a good source for Great Old One / Outer God minis if you ever want to represent them on a tabletop without breaking the bank. Other creatures and investigators are a plus. Oh, and the game too. lol

How did you prepare them? I haven't really painted any boardgame plastics yet, even though I have plenty. I wonder how the take my industrial grade undercoat or whether they really even need it...

I used this way:  https://citadelcolour.com/playlist/6039187301001/6038117442001
And by all means, please prime your minis! They deserve it and they need it!  ;)

Lovely paint jobs and I particularly like the color choices.  The avatar's a rather strange sculpt even by Mythos standards, but doesn't weird me out as much as the cultists.  Being well armed is great but seriously, heels?  Sensible shoes, ladies.  Sensible shoes for a firefight.  :)

And a yellow bathrobe...

To be fair, hanging around with the avatar makes the yellow seem quite a bit less noticeable, at least by comparison.  Besides, maybe the poor thing has bad eyesight (does it even have eyes?) and obvious color-coding is important for making sure you don't get devoured along with the investigators.

Oh, who am I kidding?  The cultists are going to be devoured eventually too.  The heels just make it easier to catch them when it's time.  :)

At least they're not wearing combat bikinis.  Can't see their midriffs at all.

Soon I will be playing the second mission, so time to paint the monsters needed.
5 Ghouls - "The madness and monstrosity lay in the figures in the foreground- for Pickman's morbid art was pre-eminently one of demoniac portraiture. These figures were seldom completely human, but often approached humanity in varying degree. Most of the bodies, while roughly bipedal, had a forward slumping, and a vaguely canine cast. The texture of the majority was a kind of unpleasant rubberiness."
H.P. Lovecraft, Pickman's Model

Chthonian - "Flowing tentacles and pulpy gray-black, elongated sack of a body...no distinguishing features at all other than the reaching, groping tentacles. Or was there—yes—a lump in the upper body of the thing...a container of sorts for the brain, basal ganglia, or whichever diseased organ governed this horror's loathsome life!"
Brian Lumley , The Burrowers Beneath

Lovely paint jobs as always, especially the ghouls.  Pickman would approve, no doubt.

Not sold on the Cthonian sculpt personally.  Too H.R. Geiger and not enough worm-kraken-from-Hell for my tastes, Lumley's description notwithstanding.  Still nicely detailed and looks good in that color scheme, but more a Generic Unpleasant Thing than a Cthonian to me.

Absolutely maddening how many Mythos critters get described as being basically black, or shades of black, isn't it?  :)

Deep Ones - "The Deep Ones are an ocean-dwelling race, as evidenced by their name, with an affinity for mating with humans. They entered a contract with the people of Innsmouth to keep the fish plentiful in their area. They also seem to have a supply of gold artifacts of unearthly design. The Deep Ones worship Father Dagon and his consort Mother Hydra

Ghouls should sue ^__^

Nice painting on the DEEP SEVEN, but I am not sold on the sculpt. It reminds me of the things from The Matrix.

Nice painting on the Deep Ones, interesting sculpt concept - very different from other Deep One miniatures. I certainly do not recommend violating The Benthic Treaty if that lot are going to turn up to complain.

Hunting Horror - “And hoary Nodens raised a howl of triumph when Nyarlathotep, close on his quarry, stopped baffled by a glare that seared his formless hunting-horrors to grey dust.”
