Title: Hinterlands AoS28 where to download?
Post by: ulverston on December 14, 2019, 11:03:09 AM
Hi Guys,
I have been looking at aoS28 and Ex Profundis type sites and love the miniatures that they create... I keep reading about Hinterlands being an Age of Sigmar version of Mordheim…? Where does one get hold of these please?
Thanks in advance

This link has a download: https://www.reddit.com/r/ageofsigmar/comments/7bap3i/hinterlands_download/ (https://www.reddit.com/r/ageofsigmar/comments/7bap3i/hinterlands_download/)

It was really just a skirmish mod and warband campaign system for Age of Sigmar. The author now works for GW and wrote Warcry and the latest expansion 'Tome of Champions' includes a more detailed warband campaign with injuries and whatnot. I'm pretty sure Warcry is what most aos28 folk would be using. It's a much better skirmish game.

Thanks for the link and the info Andrew, I don't really play that much but I do like to look at rules etc.... this rabbit hole now leads to Warcry.
Thanks again.

If I remember correctly, Hinterlands was close to aos skirmish rules, a way more than near to warcry.

It was yes. AoS Skirmish came after Hinterlands (but by a different author) and was similarly straight AoS mechanics but as a skirmish. But it wasn't very good and Warcry's rules - though totally different - are a direct response to that.

have a look at The Grand Alliance forums - and the narrative and open play sub-forum in particular.

depends on what you're after - from what I see of the rules, Warcry certainly wont give you a Mordheim fix / flavour, and I find the rules hard to reconcile with what the guy in question was trying to do with Hinterlands (things like his 'realm master' option etc).

as well as Hinterlands there are some other things available (shardsfall / reknown or ruin) - I think most things are on TGA if you look around (look in the 'downloads' section - and choose 'all files' - there are only 5 pages to look through).

On TGA you'll find some campaigns for aos skirmish ;)

I think I have both the original Hinterlands and AoS28. If you still need them drop me a pm with an email address :)
