I have slowly been putting together forces and terrain to play AK47 in 15mm and I thought this would be an ideal opportunity to build something
So I need terrain objective templates towns and villages etc so I thought a war wrecked Airport would fit in the theme, so I am thinking a control tower and terminal buildings suitably damaged and maybe a hanger and a bit of runway with a crashed plane if I can find a suitable model any suggestions welcome?
-
Great idea.
As it’s for AK47 I’d suggest a 1/100 scale Dakota ;)
-
Have you seen the price of 1/100 scale planes just for a wreck?
-
Sounds excellent Colin!

Nope, but I bet it’s steep.
I had 3 of them once upon a time...would have popped once in the post to you for nowt, but sadly that project didn’t make the house move a few years back.
-
How about the Testors 1/130 Hercules kit?
-
first one I looked at would $56, a bit steep for a model to wreck
-
I' looking forward to seeing what you do with this as I have dabbled in 15mm modern as well.
Have a look at http://www.blotz.co.uk or http://www.blacksitestudios.com or just do a search for any Team Yankee scenery.

That's the one that would cost me $56 with postage
-
Ah yes that postage across the pond :-[
-
How about a Mig-19?
Saw plenty of action in Africa, and will set you back less than a tenner including postage.

Nice start.
-
Trying to make a base for the terminal building
My Brothers idea was to score hard board to make it look like concrete
my attempt so far
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/43/1912-050120173757.jpeg)
-
You could drybrush the 'ragged' areas where you scored it green to be the vegetation getting into the gaps.
-
Got most of the first building cut out , just to finish painting and glueing

I thought I had better post some more photos to try and keep up with some of the great builds going on in this competition

I am also going to build some craters for the runway that is what the cardboard circle is
-
Very Entebbe. You are a proper genius with basic and cheap material, Mac.
-
Loving this!
You might go for a fuel cache or windsock to spruce things up a bit. Broken down aircraft or bits thereof, aircraft tug, floodlights, boarding stairs, luggage trolleys. etc.

That is what I am trying to build at the moment, I have some drums, just trying to blow them up a bit and I am thinking about things to add to the buildings I already have running out of base space!
-
Looking really good. :-*
-
You are conjuring Entebbe from cornflakes packets... :o Amazing Colin 8)

-
The details within the tower are great!
-
Looking good Colin. Love the details in the control tower and making all the beams for the hangar from scratch. 8)
-
I like the way you did those girders: they turned out very well.
-
Looks great 8)
-
Ohhhh! I'm REALLY liking that Colin! :o
-
Thanks guys
I have another photo of the complete girders but I think it may show to much of my painting on the inside of the hanger
-
The girders look really good: the final product will undoubtedly look awesome. A shame to ruin it though... ;)
