So I am admittedly lousy at coming up with scenarios. Especially ones with just a si glue squad of USMC. Can anyone point me to a good source?

Full Metal Jacket?

I'm thinking more along the lines of written down scenarios with table layout etc.

This set is very good. Mostly Squad sized but a few are Platoon scale or need some armoured support.

The WW2 Pacific scenario books in the same series have scenarios that can be reset for Vietnam quite easily.
Printed versions are available for richer wargamers!

Thanks, that looks promising.

If you want just a squad’s worth of marines look at something based on the Combined Action Program, which in various guises ran for almost the length of the USMC’s stay in SVN. A reinforced squad was detached and combined with a local village defence force (Popular Force part time militia) to provide local security and do the hearts and minds thing. They were not infrequently attacked by a variety of enemy forces. The PF forces were supposed to make up the balance of the force but numbers varied by locale and as they were part-time part of them might be tending crops or on patrol when an attack against the village was launched.
Here are a couple of links but if you search for Combined Action Program/Platoon you’ll get many more.

Commando Miniatures do Confrontation era Indonesians that would be ideal as PF troops. Not sure how they scale with Empress or Gringo though.

Carlos,
I just recently read Bing West’s The Village. Yes that is exactly the sort of thing I would be after.

This is great. Thx for sharing.
