Title: 1/60 WWII Crossfire project WIP
Post by: vodkafan on January 05, 2020, 11:17:15 PM
Wasn't going to put any photos up yet but then thought what the hell, it might spur me on a bit.
These are 1/60 Westwind miniatures, not the best but I have upgraded them with Perry small packs and e tools and canteens from TAG. Just a couple of WIP photos. I am aiming for a basic paint job so as to get them on the table quickly.

Why 1/60?

The short answer is I wanted figures that would fit with the Dinky 1/60 diecast vehicles I have picked up from ebay very cheap, but had nothing to go with them.
The slightly longer answer is that the project sort of came together from two directions; I did have a few very nice Brit figures I had bought from Colonel Bill which were a mystery; they were very small and neat (27mm to top of head) and just the right size for the vehicles. I later found out they are Battle Honors, and that I couldn't get any more. So the hunt was on to find some the same size, and the Westwind figs were pretty much unescapable.
The Dinky vehicles don't cover everything I need, so I have had a Comet tank, Universal Carriers and a Daimler Dingo scout car 3D printed at 1/60 by the Tank Factory UK, who have been fantastic.

I have other WW2 projects in 1/56 and 1/48 , but I always wanted to have a go at Crossfire and liked the idea of doing it in this slightly smaller compact scale.

Looking very nice.
What opposition have you got planed? What theatre of operations are you looking at?
Will be nice to see them on the table.

Looking good mate.
Odd scale though.
What is their actual height for the figure then ?

Like crossfire rules, but could never find anyone NICE to play against (has.been, we know a story about this don’t we).

Keep up the good work.

I will be doing the Germans next. Late war NWE. The Brits are going to be the 49th Division The Polar Bears.

They are 27mm to top of head, 25mm to the eye.  I will have to hear that story next time we meet!
