Title: [COMMERCIAL] Wargames Atlantic News Thread
Post by: lord marcus on January 08, 2020, 04:48:55 AM
Hello Everyone.

My forum handle is Lord Marcus. I'm one of the moderators on the Wargames Atlantic Legion group, and generally help out with the various war gaming forums on an unofficial basis. I'll be a contact point if you have any questions regarding WGA miniatures. Although i have no oversight on production i can pass questions i am unable to answer up the chain.

I've noticed that several short-lived threads have popped up regarding WGA's miniatures, and developments/news relating to such. My aim with this thread is to condense things and provide a place where everyone can have a centralized chat about the various kits.

Unless otherwise noted, all kits will be $35.00 USD per box, with 3/5/10 box deals on the website. Miniatures are 28mm in scale.

to start things off, a listing of things as they stand:

Kits available now

Raumjager sci-fi infantry - sci-fi take on fallschirmjager infantry

Skeleton warriors in the classic fantasy range (think Jason and the Argonauts and you will be on the mark.)

Hafling militia - 40 halflings in a box

Kits on pre-order

Les Grognards sci-fi infantry - greatcoat sci-fi troops with a french flair. kit includes 198 head options per box.

Persian infantry

kits in development - test sprues seen/shown

Dark age Irish

Colonial era Afghan infantry

kits in development - other

WW1/Great war german infantry, including pickelhaube helmets

Einjar - sci fi dwarf infantry with a viking flair.

Fantasy elven infantry - render shown on facebook

mystery/unnamed kit - sci-fi rifle render shown on facebook

News update:

Grognards are in the Warehouses and available to order.

Persians have been delayed due to Chinese New year and will most likely be shipping to the warehouses (all 4) just past February 10th.

The dark age Irish and afghans should be shipping to the warehouses at the same time as the Persians, so we are getting a triple threat release mis February

After that, the factory will work on production of the WW1 Germans.

The design team is currently working on new sets for the various ranges.

Afghan warriors, Dark age Irish are both up for preorder, apparently shipping late March. There is also a poll with the potential for free minis...

Hello Lord Marcus! I hope you folks are all holding up well enough considering the current international health situation. Any word on when you folks will be shipping the Persians, Afghans and Irish for delivery to Germany? And any more info on your giant spiders and elves?

Thanks for your continuing great work!

PS. Please throw a bone to those of us not on Facebook....

Yes indeed! I apologize, as I have been remiss in updating this thread.

Persians, afghans and Irish are on the way. They should be in the warehouse in the UK and having pre-orders beginning to be processed by the 7th of may.

We have announced plastic Napoleonic Spanish for the early half of her peninsular war, with more kits planned if these do well.

Elves have been shelved due to market changes.

Spiders are still in the design phase, but will have addition parts on the sprue to add sci fi flavor, if you fancy it.

No stress, I appreciate the speedy reply. I am usually too frugal to buy minis new but I am itching to get my hands on some of your new stuff. Your Spaniards look great but my wife has been working hard to keep me from getting involved with yet another genre/time period. I need to focus on fantasy and sci-fi.... so the extra bits on the spiders suits me just fine! A shame about the Elves, I quite liked the design.

So living in Germany, the best thing for me to do is to just put in a pre-order purchase on your main website?

Currently only 5 of one kind. We are looking into the option of a mix and match but no set answer on that yet.

The 3 new sets - afghans, Irish and Persians - as well as RDG's fauns, are in the warehouse. We are currently coding pre-orders into the shipping system. It will be a day or so untill things start shipping across the US.

If you want to get any last minute pre-orders in,  now's the time. :)

I apologise for the radio silence everyone. We've been extremely busy lately.

We have recently previewed:

Fantasy giant spiders

Einjar space "dwarves" infantry

And the world war 1 Germans have released.

Some people have already taken to converting our other miniatures (namely the grognards) with the German parts

Hello everyone.

Latest news is as follows:

Space dwarf Einherjar and the dual purpose spider set are on boats on the way to our distribution hubs.

We've just released a new image of the Les Grognards heavy weapons teams, this time a painted example by the talented Matthew Leahy.

We've also announced a licensing deal with Mark Mondragon of Dreamforge Games and his Iron Core line. Mark has completely redone the eisenkern for a completely new tooling by Wargames Atlantic. The Panzerjager are also in the pipeline.

You can preorder your eisenkern boxes now, and take advantage of the usual multi-box deals we offer :)

On that note... previously Wargames Atlantic used Sarissa in the UK as a depot for the EU. What are your plans for those of us on the continent after the 1st of January if the Brexit trade deal talks fail?

As an American living in Germany, one difficulty experienced is the cost of sourcing things from the States.

If we end up having to do the same thing for items from the UK... where I get the bulk of my “new purchase” gaming material...it is going to seriously impact my gaming purchases. I know the constantly pushed back deadline has made some folks numb to the impending crisis but I do not think we will see another extension.

It would have been nice if companies had already established replacement trade partners during the extensions rather than hoping for the best.

Bitterness aside, Wargames Atlantic just keeps going from success to success with the rapidly expanding catalog of excellent miniatures. Thank you for that!

First thing, let me say I was pleasantly surprised with how the Lizardmen have developed. I was not originally a fan but I have to say I like what you folks have come up with in the end. So I will be wanting a box of those as well now.

Which leads to the second thing, which is a bit of a problem.

Whilst the trade talks secured something of a deal, it has since then proven quite problematic for us. Additional costs and we have been waiting over two weeks for a package sent by a mate in the UK that still has not crossed the Channel.

At this point my wife and I will not be making purchases from the UK until things get sorted out at the border.

Have you folks at Wargames Atlantic established a distributor in the EU yet? If not, will you be doing so in the future?

EDIT: Correction to above, apparently the package our friend sent entered Germany on the 30th, 17 days after posting. With luck it will be with us in the next couple of days but we are still leery about ordering from the UK at this point.

We have several distributors in the EU and they can be found on our Where to Buy page on the site. Right now there's a lot of hysteria about Brexit and shipping and so far our stuff hasn't been impacted. Sarissa who does our UK/EU fulfillment has contingency plans in place if shipping becomes an issue
Title: Re: [COMMERCIAL] Wargames Atlantic News Thread
Post by: Grumpy Gnome on February 02, 2021, 02:28:03 AM
It would seem I misspoke when I said distributor, I meant fulfillment center.

I hope you do not consider me part of that hysteria as I am speaking from personal experience. Not only has a package of mine, admittedly not from Sarissa, has been delayed (and I have yet to know if there will be additional costs) as well as I have just found out that Ship Quest, which is doing the fulfillment of the Hagglethorn Hollow Kickstarter by Tabletop Troubadour is experiencing “teething problems” that are causing delays.

Tabletop Troubadour has been less than transparent regarding fulfillment and this experience in turn has lead me to ask for more transparency from other companies. I can see Nick of Northstar in another thread speaks of no problems shipping from the UK to the EU. This is great but my personal experiences so far do not match this.

One of the reasons I was so frustrated with Tabletop Troubadour was the better shipping updates from Wargames Atlantic, so hat tip to you on that. But I do not think it is hysterical to want to know what Wargames Atlantic plans during these admittedly challenging times.

Saying that Sarissa will continue to handle fulfillment from orders to the main company website is one thing, but a vague reference to contingency plans without making those contingency plans clear is not really helpful. As a customer I want to clearly know if there will be delays and additional costs if I order from the main company website in order to decide if I should just wait to see what other sources become available at a later date for Wargames Atlantic products.

My enthusiasm for Wargames Atlantic products has me wanting to avoid waiting when possible, so please consider that a success of your product line.

As a customer I want to clearly know if there will be delays and additional costs if I order from the main company website in order to decide if I should just wait to see what other sources become available at a later date for Wargames Atlantic products.

sorry were waiting to see like everyone else. Even the governments involved don’t have clear guidelines.

I guess my immediate question is, if we try to order a box of your British Riflemen from your website when they finally get to Sarissa in the UK, are we going to get the same 25% customs charge that we just got on a package sent to us by a mate in the UK?

Do you anticipate a price increase on your products if we try to buy from Blackfire, your distributor in Germany?

I unfortunately do not have an answer for you on that.

To everyone awaiting the prussian infantry and lizardmen, there is an update on our website.

Lizardmen and Prussian Reserve are both at the docks in New York and Southampton so now it's just a matter of time before we have them in the warehouses. Shipping now in Australia.

That's what puts me off ordering from the UK atm ( Holland-based ). I don't like nasty surprises, been stung in the past by US-parcels which our customs put ridicilous large valueations ( so taxations ) on so, no. Have been looking into EU-webshops and of course my FLGS can order aswell, but we'll see until july. WgA's spider kits is highest on the list  :).
