Lovely work Matt 8) 8) 8)
I've still got two sets of that Warhammer Historical mini's of Jean and the Black Prince.
They came free with the WAB supplement, Age of Chivalry.
Somehow, I think I’ll enjoy watching this project grow :-*
I know I will, early 100YW is probably the project I’d take to the Desert Island.
That Black Prince is excellent and I’ll be following the blog with interest.
You've set a high benchmark there mate, with figure number one!
:-*
Lovely painting. :-*
Well you are off to a great start. :D
Really great to see the crafty Armagnac's in their heraldic splendour Matt :-*
Not as crafty as those pesky Burgundians and English!
Cheers
Matt
Well, guess I am going to have to start fallowing your blog. lol
Cracking work 'Willow!
These are all really nice.
My favourites are all the ones that use the body from the French Infantry set, the armoured 'not-quite-knight' one.
What I'm really looking forward to though is seeing them all based up together!
You've put so much detail into the heraldry of each one, will there be more 'common soldiers' to bulk them out?
Good to see this type of effort being made, congrats and keep up with your project, wonderful!
More fabulous work Matt :-* :-* :-*
:o Very nice, good work! :)
Nice work! And always good to see the Claymore/Antediluvian sculpts!
Yet more excellence Matt :-*
Wow, excellent!
Got take a vaca to France!
great stuff
Very nice, and good to see some French longbowmen for once!
Yes mixed smaller companies than the mixed, I still have not found a reference to them being used enmasse like the English, possibly because of the smaller numbers. They certainly made a big contribution along with the Scots at Baugé and Verneuil. At la Brossinière and Fresnay seemed to be used as a harassing skirmish line. Certainly in full swing by the ordinance period of the French Army.
looking great - when can we expect to see a table set up?
Really lovely Matt :-* :-* :-*
The work on the pavises is bloomin' marvelous!! 8) 8) 8)
Wow! 8) I didn't know you were compiling such a tome!
I will certainly be buying a hard copy of this when it is published!
I possibly will release a PDF of the armorials and chevalier and écuyers bio, but three books coming. It has been my lockdown project to pull it all together, still possibly a year or so off though as my friend thinks I should submit it for my PHD.
Also would like to put together one for the first Barons War focusing on Anjou, Maine, Normandy and Aquitaine, the personalities, sieges and the battles in France, my next medieval wargaming project.....
You're a dark hose mate :)
I am really excited to hear about this as it is obviously of great interest to me. It's not too bad getting info on 'English' armies, largely down to the Lance and Longbow Societies superlative work over the years but 'Frenc' information is a lot harder to come by. I don't really have an opinion either side of the argument but I do wonder what you think of the premise that a lot of records in France were destroyed in WWII?
My biggest bonus has been the introduction into the nobility circle here locally so I get to view original documents
That has to be more then useful!
what you think of the premise that a lot of records in France were destroyed in WWII?
Patrice, Matt, thanks. I knew that many has been destroyed but WWII just stuck as the main culprit.
I didn't even take the French Revolution into account o_o
I suppose it's possible that a lot of records in Paris may have been destroyed in the Parisian Communes too ???
Yes, quite a lot has been digitized now which is good
Cheers
Matt
Thanks mate, more coming this week
Cheers
Matt
Nicely done! All those Fleur-de-Lys must've been an ordeal though lol
Lovely work Matt :-*
The set is one of the best that the Perry's produced for the HYW IMHO.
Yes I would of liked them to continue for the early part if the HYW also
Cheers
Matt
Looking fabulous - when are we going to see the full army on the table?
The Maid of Orlèans came off the production line on Saturday, another addition to the French army. A nice figure by the Perry twins,
I did think about adding a helmet to the figure and using it as a regular knight though.
Lovely work on a fine miniature Matt.
A good idea, if I ever get around to it I might do just that as a very kind forum member gave me a load of Perry HYW stuff a few years ago so I have ended up with two models of the mounted "Maid" (sorry, that just sounds wrong!).
Love your minis and paintwork, bluewillow.
Thank you for sharing them with us.
I look forward to more info on your books too.
How did you paint the white keys on the pavises?
Did you use a very, very fine brush, or a paint pen for that?
Adding so much fine detailing on so many pavises looks to be a very challenging endeavor.
Étienne de Vignoles, La Hire. The knave of hearts
Completed this lovely figure about ten days ago and finally got his basing done as I was waiting on earth colored paint (which has held up completion of 18 bases of figures)
I have also completed a story of his service history on my blog for those interested in his deeds. So famous he is still remembered as the Jack/knave of hearts today

Absolutely fabulous painting, can't get over how good they are and how many you turn out at this high standard, more power to your elbow!!
Excellent work Matt 8) 8) 8)
I much prefer the metals to the plastics for the HYW Perry range. I think they have more natural look to them.
