Title: Splash, splash, bang, bang....
Post by: Dags on January 23, 2020, 10:04:22 PM
A long time ago, I'm thoroughly ashamed to admit, Tin Shed Mark gave me a prototype Swamp Boat (now available in a slightly different version from the lads at First Corps).

It's sat on at the back of my desk, not exactly unloved but relegated to the 'Get round to it when time allows pile'.

Anyways, Mark suggested it would work for my 'Nam project and that gave me the impetus to get cracking on it. The button counters may hate the idea but it is going to be transport/support for the Empress Marine Recon team....

Indeed. That's is a lovely miniature. There's no two ways about it. And yes swampboats or rather airboats were definitely used in the 'Nam. However, if i remember correctly not very succesfull and by US Army Special Forces. You can read all about in the excellent book by Shelby Stanton, "Special Forces at War. You need a pretty big gaming table to use unless you have them stationary all the time but the idea of using these miniatures is just outstanding. Keep up the good work. ;-)

I've tried to find these on the First Corps website but had no luck.

Having recently discovered Gaslands I can see a modification of those rules for airboat racing 1980's cop TV show style.

Cracking job on the painting.

Well that scrubbed up nicely.
As Jon mentioned that version is a one off, just for him
Although the AA ring mount is cast so it would be possible to make some similar if you asked about the AA ring mount.
The current version can fit 25mm slotta bases on.
Feed back was to have room for a based figure rather than dedicated pilot figure.

It's cracking choice of colour Jon ,I just wish I'd had more time to chat yesterday.
