Title: Pics from a recent zombie game...picture heavy
Post by: Chambersofminiatures on July 20, 2009, 04:04:50 AM
I just thought that I would post a couple of pictures from a recent game using the Rattrap Games rules set. The gamers included Ryan (UncleRhino) playing the survivors, Chuck (cwchmc) playing the corporate hit team, Dan playing the special forces and myself with the task of playing over 50 slow moving but resilient zombies.

It was close, two of the survivors and one of the corporate hit team along with the scientist (mission goal) made is off the game board some what intack.

Highlights from the game: After the special forces team was pinned down by wave upon wave of zombies, last marine took out a quarter of of the hoard by shooting into a large propane tank, which created a chain reaction with the nearby gas station.

The survivors trapped on a rooftop, seeing others to rescue them, climbed down the fire escape in the alley, thanks to the biker with the shotgun in the group.

The ruthless corporate hit team leader did not care if the rest of team survived as long as could obtain his target, which he did in grand style.

Fun game with plenty of encounters, including zombie dogs.

I thought .45 Adventures might work for a zombie game. So you played the GM along with the zombies? or did you act as a faction? Nice encounter marker by the way. Very well done all around.

Looks pretty good. I actually never thought about using.45 for a zombies game. But maybe that is because of the amount of models that we like to bring to the table. How fat sis the game go? I know our zombies games normally take around 5 to 6 hours.

Interestingly, our Zombies always also seem to be standing on the rooftops of buildings. It's likewise good to see that zombies games are quite liberal in the miniatures that seem to want to participate.

I'd also like to see a few more shots of the Zs. They look quite good.

Thanks for posting!

Very nice! Where is the terrain mat from?

Could you share any character sheets, I'd quite fancy trying .45 rules for a zombie game.

Thanks all! It was a fun game using the .45 rules. The zombies were 1/2 grades and could only be killed with a kill shot to the hea

I will find the miniatures pics and the character sheets and link them up.
The zombie dogs are from the Bag o Zombie Dogs from the Zombies board game. I believe that there were 100 zombie dogs included.
The game only took about 3 hours to play and achieve the scenario goal.
Chuck gets all of the credit for the terrain and the markers. Hopefully he is reading this and will be able to post more details.

Well off to work for now.

Patrick

I have the excel sheets, but I can not figure how to post them. Sorry.

The propane tank and the gas station explosion were for dramatic effect... very cinematic!

Great set of rules and I highly recommend them.

it's really funny, I always thought you painted your miniatures very well, but didn't really like the cold/blue shine that they often seem to have. However, seeing some of the miniatures in the report compared to in you gallery, I am now more convinced that the cold/blueish tone that I often see in your pictures is due to how you take your pictures. Funny to see how much difference there is between the way pictures are taken.

Don't take my critisism as a big thing since I still have to say, I always do enjoy seeing new work from you.

Hi uti long smile, Email sent with the excel sheets.

I just added the missing zombies from Ral Partha and Reaper into the zombie folder. The zombie rising from the grave is from an oop Ral Partha pack.

http://s252.photobucket.com/albums/hh25/chambersofminiatures/Zombies/ (http://s252.photobucket.com/albums/hh25/chambersofminiatures/Zombies/)

The pics from the game were taken from UncleRhino's camera without the light set up that I usually have. I thought that he did a great job with the pics on the fly.

The set that I usually use is a white background with reveal light bulbs with the white balance adjusted.

Thanks again all.

Thanks for the information. Did youmodify the free zombie scenario from the .45 Adventure website? Or did you mkae up your own house rules?

The zombie scenario was blatantly nicked from zombie movies that I have seen. For the zombie stats, I used for the most part the stats from the Rattrap WW2 book with modifications.1/2 grades.

The zombie dogs were faster that your run of the mill zombie and there was an uber zombie (siren) as an encounter.

I have to echo Braxandur request.

Excellent paint job! They do look bruised... like their blood has just stopped.

D'OH!!  o_o I guess that's the way they're supposed to look. But how did you do it?

Trying to learn because my painting is still in the sucky stage.  :'(

Later,

To be honest, since there were so many zombies to paint and they go down like fodder, I used the dip method with Minwax Polyshades.

After blocking out the colors, I painted purples and pinks around the open wounds and liberally slathered on the reds for blood. Painted on the dip with a brush, waited a couple of days to dry, Dull Coat, finish up the bases and off they shambled to be cut down like corn.

I love those simple & fast techniques that give fantastic results!!

I'm going to try this on my zombies too.

THANKS!
