So I got SW Legion for Christmas. I've not had much hobby time st home recently, but I did take a wee painting kit to work and I've managed to do about 2/3rds of the Imperials in the core box.....

Excellent painting.
Really like your painting of Vader.
-
Great! :-*

That is really amazing work on Darth Vader. Great highlights and light sheen across the helmet

Thanks gentlemen!

Why impatient? Is that because you couldn't see them with your glasses the other day? ;)

I think thats the easier part. I think no matter what highlights you put on Vader's helmet, your mind tells you his noggin is shiny. Everyone knows he has a shiny dome.
Getting the Lightsaber glow to my satisfaction was harder! o_o

Cracking work 8)

So I've had no time at all recently(I'm counted as a key worker and still have to work), but I have bought myself a 3d printer. I've been dying to get into it for ages, but the thought of spending a few hundred pound straight away, without knowing anybody that has one or the results achievable, put me off. The Missus finally said "why don't you just buy one. You've always wanted one."
So before she even finished her sentence, I bought one.
I found this file on Thingiverse for the Mandalorian and I knew it was the first figure I wanted to print and paint....

One of these days we may actually get a game with these
A bigger picture would be good too
Are there any decent rebel figures?
-
Fab painting Andy :-* :-* :-*

Brilliant stuff mate.

Awesome, what printer did you get? I printed that 'child' on my Ender 3 and its not worth painting :)
Great job!

If only we could find a way to reverse the videocall/game we played the other week....... ???
There’s loads of good printable figs out. Darth Maul May be next though! :)

That’s just the standard Eleegoo Mars with standard grey resin. I’ve seen videos mentioning changing some settings for an Ender 3 to do detail stuff......

Glorious work. And having been crunching through my Imperials, I know all that white is a bugger to do nicely.
Look forward to seeing more

Nice models and miniatures! :)
-
Thanks guys! Yeah......and white is a bitch. There seems to be no easy way to do it! :'(

Another couple of figures downloaded from Thingiverse. Jabba is probably a bit small, but I'm happy with it. I've tried to paint some sort if texture on him. I think I need to work in that in future models!

the eyes are great :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Hehe, I have seen some of your stuff on Facebook just yesterday or so, and I like what I have seen so far, your Mandalorian is great. Jabba seems a bit small and Yoda looks like he has had his hands in the cookie jar a bit too often, he needs to loose some weight! :D
I just recently got in to Star Wars: Legion my self, and have primarely spent the past two weeks getting miniatures and terrain, and man, I got so much stuff, that I am set for years of painting, at least if feels that way hehe. I have a few friends that I got interested in the game as well, so I decided to get the terrain and start to make a table for some games. As for now, I must admit that I havent been this exited over a game in many years, I mean its wargaming and Star Wars, cant get much better than that.

Maybe he would look bigger on a base?

Not heard of that one. Glynis is thinking of getting one but the only one we've looked at so far was the Anycubic?
Where did you get yours from?
-
My 3d printer has been working overtime for me recently. Without much in the way of hobby time, its really helped getting some stuff for my games.
Next up is a crashed Snowspeeder(though its in the desert). File taken from Thingiverse....

I really liked the speeder, but the debris in front looked 'off', so I've based it and polyfilled the speeder in so it looks more buried.

My brother kindly bought me some Rebel pilots from Skullforge Studios to go with this terrain piece. They are next on the painting queue!

Great to see your take on Star Wars.
That Yoda is a favourite, great brushwork.

Stunning brushwork :-* :-* :-* :-*

The panting on this thread is beautiful - lovely results! Really like the speeder.
Welcome to the printing world - best hobby kit I've ever bought.
You'll spend months now only focussing on printing before you get back to a bit of equilibrium (if my experience is anything to go by!)
-
Awesome stuff as usual Andym!
Are you planning more terrain? Your threads are always packed with ideas and tips, so I was hoping for a similar experience for this Star Wars thread. :D
Even if not, definitely looking forward to seeing what's next.
-
Annoyingly good!

Thanks very much guys!

Me too mate, I've missed my painting too! ;) I've not seem to have much hobby time this year! :'(

Its SUCH a great tool for our hobby! Been able to scale soo many different bits in pieces to suit what ever project I'm planning is fantastic! I can only imagine, when we finally all embrace it, that it'll possibly help the industry too? No more overheads, just make a model file and email it. No production costs, no postsge costs, no things lost in the post, etc.

Not planning any more terrain yet. Though I did download an Imp bunker and I've printed off an AT-ST.
Annoyingly good!
Funny....thats what I think when I see your painting skills! lol
Thanks again chaps!

In certiain niches (especially Legion) seems we're about halfway there already. I do a lot of smaller scale stuff and being able to rescale is a game changer! It's been interesting watching the Modiphius Fallout releases, with 'official' Terrain STLs coming out, that feels like the start of a shift. Anyway, not to derail keep up the lovely painting!

One of my favourite characters from the old extended universe....Grand Admiral Thrawn.
This is a Skullforge Studios STL file I've printed off on my Elegoo Mars printer.

Very nice but a bit blue
Do you have stays for him?
-
Yeah, maybe a bit too blue. I wanted him to stand out against the white Stormtroopers and I figured cold and calculating....go with blue. Would a sandy colour have been better to tone down the white?
I'm part of an unoffical SW Legion Card group. These were posted up on there as a peoples take on the character...

The first one screams more of the character from the books to me.
-
I like what you have done with him. I playing a lot of the SW Galaxy of Heroes mobile game - he is perhaps a bit lighter blue in that, but not by much, and some of it looks more of a lighting effect.
-
Best looking Thrawn I've seen , most people make the mistake of too bright a blue flesh tones .Yours looks believable.
