It's been a long, cold winter, but coming out of the fog (and my basement, which I call "The Island of Misfit Toys"), is this DUST project that's been waiting to get on the game board for years!
In a few more weeks a first game will get presented at our local games day, but I couldn't wait to see a little of how the walkers in the trees would look together, as they move forward to slug it out in a counterattack into the Siegfried Line....

So getting closer to the finish line (for this first action) - a Festung with Laser Kanone model still to complete for the scenario yet, but that's already on the paint line.

Walking tanks? What's not to like?
Well worth the effort and the wait :)
-
Nice one - feels good, doesn't it?
-
;)
You guys nailed it!
My only regret was not jumping on this project earlier.

Bunker/Strongpoint finished, and this was lots of fun painting up (since I only needed one). :D

Thats amazing :)

The “off the grid” version of the rules are great, especially for big games. I got a ton when Fantasy Flight dumped them 75% off.
-
great looking game :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

Thanks Guys, all of you!
I'm hoping to approach this project using the platoon organizations from the DUST editions, and plan to play the games as much like other WW2 scenarios I've designed/hosted over the years, but of course now with the wild weapons and machinery of VK-1947. 8)
I'll see how well my traditional-minded gaming buds take to this, but since I'm doing it at a popular local hobby shop for our once-a-month games day, perhaps I'll draw from onlookers if more attendance is needed.
Planning on posting some pics from the 1st game next weekend here, and thanks again for your replies and support!

Great looking game

Thanks S_P!
Here's the battle mat I'll be using for the DUSTup here (it'll be a 5ft. X 7ft. vinyl mat I'm having printed up, using a modified image version from a map texture I bought off of Wargames Vault many winters ago - here in low res) -

Although I can't put hills underneath it to create elevations like on a fabric or fur mat, having the details ready to roll out and play for a game day, works great for our public presentations (it'll be used again at a local con this summer too).
Now, I just better get delivery in time from my print shop for the game! :)

The vinyl mat has arrived well on time, and I just had to see what some of the minis would look like on it trudging through the snow. ;)
Here an SSU Steel Guard Platoon advances -

Thanks Gents!
Wolt, I'll hope to have some good post-game pics to post after this weekend's 1st running (very much appreciate the interest here too). :)
-
Yes please
This thread is giving me a real weird war itch :)
-
Will do CF! :)
Presently working on an SSU KV-47 walker model to support the Steel Guard platoon pictured, and I have it camo-painted now, but need to do the snow-job weathering on it.
With the Covid-19 virus issue, our local game dates may go on a hiatus for awhile, but that'll just allow more time for paint and prep for what's being planned next (looking on the positive side). 8)

Well here's that KV-47 model ready for battlin' the Axis somewhere on the frozen steppes of the SSU. Known as Koshka's modified SMERSH mount, I've painted it up as a walker from the Armored Corps instead, and now ready for support attachment to a Steel Guard platoon.

It was a primed model (probably Fantasy Flight's - though not sure as the kit was given to me loose in a baggie), and first painted it with brown lobed camouflage, then winter dusted.....hope you like the results.

Very nicely done - I like the reds.
