Title: Anyone want to play soldiers in Mid Wales?
Post by: pauld on February 22, 2020, 04:44:57 PM
What is says on the tin really

Since moving to Powys a couple of years back I have managed to find board game partners but alas nobody above their teens who shares my love of little men and playing battles with them.

We're retired so I'm nearly in the middle sixties and have free afternoons, weekends and evenings.

I also have what I like to call a Mattic ( a man-cave in the roof) with a table, lead and plastic piles (these come with age and a bad diet I'm told), a spiffy 3D printer to make more toys and lots of mess (which visitors would encourage me to tidy up).

As a human butterfly I do not have the willpower and dedication to paint hundreds of figures so I tend to skirmish - Chain of Command, Fistful of Lead, Saga, Congo, Deadzone and small press indies covering historical, fantasy and scifi.  I also enjoy air combat (Check your Six and the like) and sea battles with Naval Thunder and War at Sea.  Got a starter box of Black Fleet that lies sulking in the corner too.

Any takers?                 ...not really interested in a club as I enjoy F2F gaming most...

I can always fit in more miniatures board games as well

PM me if interested

Thanks

Hi Paul,

How far are you from Carmarthen (if you haven't ventured this far west yet, we're about an hour west of Brecon)?  We have a good club down here and most of us are willing to travel...

I've also played a lot of CY6 over the years and have a big early war collection (Battle of Britain and Far East), but haven't played recently as nobody seems interested hereabouts.

Thanks for the interest.

I'm in Llandrindod Wells so about an hour 40 from Carmarthen, so weekends may be possible ... perhaps.

I was hoping in my own little dream world that some likely cove would turn up just around the corner (or at least an hour away)

Meantime, back in reality, I'll see if I get any more bites

There is a group trying to start up in Welshpool.  Not been myself but maybe something.  We play at the Shrewsbury club.  Meet Monday evenings.

Thanks

Welshpool is 1.25 hours so on the outer limits of doable in the evenings

But I was really looking for the Grail - a local gaming individual/small group for regular fun

... living in beautiful mid Wales is wonderful but it does have it's drawbacks when seeking like minded souls within the already small world of a niche hobby.

I know that there used to be some in Tywyn Gwynedd, and also in Aberystwyth (though they might just have been uni. students)
