Due to the current lock down I have started the construction of a castle that is years overdue.
-
Excellent way to spend the quarantinetime.
looking forward to more.
cheers

Wow! :-* That's a great piece of work.
Can I ask, is that foam mounting board with the backing removed or thin sheets of foamboard?
I'm in self isolation as of yesterday (the governments advice was rather sudden!) and it was all I could do to clean up one mini yesterday! I've set myself a target for today!
-
Looking good.
I hope all is well in lock down.
We might need a thread keeping an eye on all the members who are in lock down or self isolation.
-
Looking good. Just the sort of thing to do when in isolation. Looking forward to seeing it progress over the next few days/weeks etc

Fantastic start, will follow this with great interest!
-
this is a wonderful project ! The castle looks perfect and it will become fantastic ! What scale is it?
-
Excellent all this castle building has me planning!
Cheers

Very cool! You're off to a great start. Are you going to do a moat around it or put it on a hill?
-
Thank you to everyone for your support and kind comments.
The outer surface is foam core with the outer layer of paper pealed off and brickwork scored with a pencil.
The scale is 25 / 28mm.
Will think about the moat once I have finished the castle. One of my greatest concerns is for storage of the completed work. The castle will be stored in plastic containers and can be broken down into walls and towers with the keep and gate being the largest.

Here are the latest pictures.

Looks great!! :D

I agree with my learned colleagues. It looks most excellent!

Cracking castle sir!

Wow, how did you manage to peel it off so neatly? I tried this and it was a right mess...had to chuck it in the end.
-
Here is the finished product. As for peeling off the paper you should try the cheap poster board at the dollar store.
-
That really looks quite nice. Well done!

Well done. :-*
How did you do the brickwork? pencil & ruler?
-
Now that's a lovely looking piece of prime medieval real-estate. Great work!
-
Lovely :-* :-* :-*
Can you tell me please, did you wet the backing on the mounting board before peeling it off the foam?
-
looks great

"Can you tell me please, did you wet the backing on the mounting board before peeling it off the foam?"
No I just picked up a corner and peeled it off.
"How did you do the brickwork? pencil & ruler?"
Yes ruler and pencil.
Thanks again for all the kind comments. It was a fun project and one that was long overdue. Hopefully once we can start gaming together again I will run a Dark Ages campaign based in the time of the 1st crusade. Field battles will be fought using To the Strongest rules and sieges will use Tactica Medieval rules that have a nice set of siege rules. I will probably create my own campaign map and the campaign rules.
-
Coming along nicely
Cheers

Doh! You must have magic fingers! :D
Whenever I've tried to just peal it off it's created a god awful mess- half stuck on, half off, like when you peal a label off an item and can't get the rest of it off.

Nice build!
@Atheling Gotta try the cheap board from the discount store; the art store stuff is glued too well. Cheap is good in this case.
-
Atheling - Part of the trick is to use the very inexpensive (cheep) poster board from a dollar store. Braz has it correctly.
