Err...not exactly what you were after, but provides depth of information and first hand accounts of military life, procedures and practices as well as some first hand (comments, rather than extensive detailed reports) on combat from soldiers and civilians:

Going To The Wars, The experience of the British Civil Wars, 1638-1651. Charles Carlton, Routledge, 1992.

War In England, 1642-1649. Barbara Donagan, Oxford, 2008.

Both interesting and for semi-scholarly works, very readable, especially the Carlton.

Im sure there will be a host of more relevant suggestions from the better informed.

Richard Atkyns 'The vindication of Richard Atkyns' is one of the most popular sources alongside Richard Symonds ' Diary of the Marches of the Royal Army.
I have never read these two primary sources, but there are quotes from them in nearly every ECW book I have read!

Maybe not exactly what you are after but you could try 'Decisive Battles of the English Civil War' by Wanklyn. It looks at battles in the war and what we actually know about them. This includes evaluating the various first hand sources & often what they said, in connection to the story of the battle. A really eye opening book.
