My life fades. The vision dims. All that remains are memories. I remember a time of chaos... ruined dreams... this wasted land. But most of all, I remember The Road Warrior.

This is an attempt to collate all my Mad Max/Post Apoc threads together in one place. This has been a very long running, intermittant, project over the past 18 years... Consequently parts of the project are scattered through the forum.

Mot excellent Paul 8)

It’s a cunning plan, My Lord.
Looking forward to seeing it all come together (again) :)

Really like your stuff :-* What scale are you using? Are the vehicles Hot wheels or something larger?

The title picture looks like a Crooked Dice car (28mm 1/50-48).

-
An impressive body of work, can't wait to see more.
-
Many thanks. :)

As UVS said this is all 28mm. The vehicles are a mix of resin wargame models and diecast toys.
Some are virtually straight builds such as the V8 Interceptor (Crooked Dice).
Others are conversions in varying degrees, usually adding stowage and/or weapons:
The Tanker is based on a diecast with scratch-built gasoline tank:
Matchbox (mostly) diecast toy; before & after:
-
One of my favourites! Glad to see you working on it again!
-
I like it! Diecast Matchbox...so...is this 20mm Gaslands scale then? Pretty good detail in that case...and the conversion is ace!
-
Great idea for a thread Paul :-* :-* :-* :-*
Some lovely stuff

Brilliant. I'm in the process of doing some conversions on the same theme but using diecasts (including a mini traveller). Will post when I finish them in 2050 or so . . . .
-
Lovely stuff. Always wanted to do dark future in 28mm but would need lot of space.
-
Lovely stuff! Fantastic to have it all here together too.
I've been stockpiling appropriate miniatures and vehicles for Battlecars-type shenanigans in 28mm for years - this is some wonderful inspiration! Hot Wheels G-Machines are a great source for muscle cars in this scale - although I'm sure you already know that!
Currently, though, I'm working with my nine-year old son on upscaling Battlecars (the old GW game) to Hot Wheels and Matchbox scale (20mm), and he's loving it - he'll get a kick out of this thread! When he's old enough, we'll segue to Gaslands rules.
Excellent stuff here. Long may it continue!
-
Nice, especially the bottle rack.

Bits box.
A couple came from Scotia/Grendal:
https://www.shop.scotiagrendel.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=43&products_id=256
The 2 smaller ones were from a metal sprue of pirate accessories; bottles, goblets, parrot, peg-leg etc.
No idea where it originated from. ::)

Love the 'Cooper :-* Hopefully it's a 1071,much more collectable :D

WIP Warboys. Destined to be crew for 2 more vehicles:
Painted predominantly with GW Contrast paints. Came out pretty well for the time spent on them.
-
they look good :-* :-* :-*
-
Loving all the work, but I have to say that Interceptor just doesn't look right. The edges are too rounded and it's too short, or something. I've driven one of these in Oz and it's a big car, much more US muscle car than sports car.

To be fair the Crooked Dice model isn't intended to be an exact replica of the Mad Max Interceptor. It's a more generic model, with a range of parts to enable building in a number of configurations, not just the MM V8. For some other options see the Crooked Dice site:
http://www.crooked-dice.co.uk/wp/product/interceptor/
I considered rebuilding the front end to match the actual Ford Falcon profile, but decided it is close enough to give a reasonable general impression. I added the exhausts and intake myself, along with the correct CD (additional) stowage option and an added spare tyre.
I have more 'Interceptor' kits to put together. One will likely be as an MFP car, another maybe 'Deathrace' inspired.

Claw Car #1 from Fury Road:
I started with an old Britannia pick-up truck that has been on the shelf undercoated for ages.
(https://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/45/369-160420205941-45665805.jpeg) (https://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/45/369-160420205941-456661778.jpeg)
The plough/claw (which pivots) was built from plastic card and a weapon (Crooked Dice) mounted on an oildrum.

Both are removeable, the weapon with neodymium magnets.

After another long gap (lots of real world stuff)
I've been adding lots more in the past couple of months. Not least because I wanted more terrain for the 7TV: Apocalypse day that took place last Sunday.
First off, the painted Crooked Dice Scrap Gate (Which I built the master for):

I scratch-built a third section of tyrewall:

With one of the original sections:

All 3 sections:

More to come....

Just superb!
-
Just superb!
+1, I had to remember to breath when seeing it. Wonderful!
-
Loved, loved the big grille on the Tanker. Good work. If interviewed about my influences the words would tumble out: "Mad Max, Blade Runner, and desperate greed." First three. There might be others.
-
Now THAT's what I'm talkin' about! Great scenario / specific genre and great builds and execution. Looking forward to seeing the refinery base completed.
Iron wind metals carries a few old Ral Partha minis that look a bit like Not Road Warrior Figs.
Bobber Spumetti can double as both Bubba Zanetti from the first flick and Papagallo from Road Warrior
Crazy Alice is dead-on to the Bow-wielding warrior woman, she just needs a good bow
Gigantous, Huzz, and Ironmask are all "suspiciously similar" to Lord Humongous, Wez, and another ganger. Just need some minor modding. Me personally, I'd use the Humongous from Crooked Dice but hey that's just me. CD also makes the gyro captain with gyro and on foot, as well as the Feral Kid.
Mad Matt is there of course, and a few more that you could put here and there.

Great thread - I'll be following this one.

That's a great collection, very thematic.
May I suggest that you invest in a bottle of this, it does wonders for making everything look worn, like it's been kicking around in the post apocolypse for a decade or two:

Great looking game Paul :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Great stuff!
Mad Max is still on my "projects yet to be done" list. I have a few of the EM4 miniatures and a suitable matt black car for Max but haven't been able to find an affordable gas truck yet.
I'd love to do the vehicle chases from the movies. I have an old Necromunda Ash Wastes booklet somewhere describing a "rolling road" scenario where you move the scenery each turn to simulate the vehicles moving at speed durign the game.

My Mad Max project started with trying to re-create the tanker chase scene. I did use 'rolling road' rules with the tanker remaining central on the table and everyone else moving relative to it. I found a suitable truck at a car-boot sale and rebuilt the box trailer as a tanker.

I understand your truck is a matchbox superkings truck (did some digging on the forum). I always thought these were about 1:60 scale and wouldn't fit with 28mm miniatures, but the truck looks fine with your EM-4 minis.
I'll have to keep an eye out for superkings trucks.
