Hi all
First post on site :)
I'm looking for an article that appeared in the Continental Wars society Foreign Correspondant, its a part 2 of a article on the Holstein troops in Danish uniform covering the artillery and cavalry. the first article was in number 100, can anybody help? I've got numerous , articles of Danish and German origin covering the conflict. I'm currently designing a 28mm range of figures to cover this period from the beginning right through to 1850 (I'll also cover the baden revolt), this is a range I'm doing for myself and I've started with the Danes as their uniform covers all for the first few months. The range will cover all nations/german states, I have worked in the wargames hobby for over 30 years and have access to the hard bit of making the moulds and casting.

Hi Dave, Number 102. The volunteers are in numbers 103 and 104 as well. Good luck with the range.

Good luck with the range, please do post some pics when ready.

Do you have the issue number, if so could you copy the article?

managed to get hold of it thanks to you with giving me the issue number.

No worries, thank you.

Do you have the booklet published by the Danish War Museum(Tojhusmuseet) on the conflict? There are some useful plates with uniform details there, here you go:

Thanks for that and time spent, I do have the three main English language books on the subject. I've spent the last 6 months looking for the hard to find information and checking info from different sources!!! I've started the design work and are expecting the first two dollies of Danes in the next day or so.
Thank you Dave
-
Great! Look forward to see the dollies. This conflict has received far too little interest from the wargaming community ;)
I have the Danish book ”Uniformer, Faner og Våben” by Walbom-Pramvig which has a lot of colour illustrations for 1848-51 if you need some more. Just let me know and I can upload pictures, here is an example:

Lovely news. The booklet published by the Danish War Museum is good although having no reverse shots of uniforms/equipment makes it difficult for sculptors to get an accurate picture of what they are sculpting. Ralph Weaver's book is not bad although it too suffers from lack of additional material on uniforms and equipment.
I picked-up an Osprey style book on the subject and again lacked depth of uniform coverage.
I was going down the path of having Steve barber sculpt the range, but forgo and instead went for the Hungarian Up-Rising 1848-49.
Again, I wish you the best of luck with the range. Its one that I've an interest in.

Very interesting. I will follow this post with great interest. 1. Schleswig War is way more fun than the second even though it gets all the attention (and the TV series). The Danish cavalry kicked arse in this war. I've always wanted to try out some sort of skirmish cavalry game from this war.
Waterloo To Mons Miniatures did a range of miniatures for this war. I managed to get hold of some of the infantry but I don't the company exist anymore.
Cheers
Erik

ps yes I plan on doing it in stages, Danish and Holstein troops in converted danish uniforms followed by the Prussians. then all the German minor states. Recieved the first two figures and seperate - backpack musket etc. This allows me to do all.

Its the range of uniforms from Napoleonic style to frock coats and picklehaubes, and wide range of uniform colours. Since researching the history I'm pushing the range into the baden revolt.

Thank you Dave, they look okay to me.

They look good to me too. More!

I hope this has worked

Perfect!

Hello Dave,
Do you have a web-site? Will your figures be available for purchase? I have been waiting for someone to create a line for this era.
Thank you, John
-
Yes,
I'm interested, as well.
-
and me!
-
It;s too bad that Stuart Pentland had done nothing with the old "Waterloo to Mons" line 0f 28mm Schleswig Holstein war figures....nice line .he bought the moulds .and there they sit.Statue is of a Schleswig war Veteran buries here in Omaha/Nebraska.,many veterans came to Nebraska and Iowa. You could probably also use Sikh war British in bell shako for Danes. Love the figure.
-
Well, if anyone hears anything, pass the word.
Thank you

I can do that for anybody interested, I've just recieved 6 masters of danish troops in 1842 uniform advancing in field cap, kepi and shako.
I wont be putting them on a commercial website, but buy them direct from me. I've 30 years experience and started Pendraken Miniatures, my son now runs it allowing me free time to do more hobby style work. I'll post the images
