Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere but it was the first I had heard of it and I have to say I am surprisingly pleased given my, admittedly mild, arachnophobia.

Could be a great way to build up some spiders for Mirkwood....

This is another cheap way to build up a load of spiders https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dungeons-and-Dragons-Miniatures-Spider-Bundle-31-Items/293532394957?hash=item4457e4e5cd:g:ZkMAAOSwpIVeaiR9
I've picked up a big bunch of stuff from this seller. The smaller figures are a bit rubbish to be honest, but his spiders and larger monsters are not too shabby and great value.

“This artwork is for an upcoming set for our Classic Fantasy range: Giant Spiders. This is going to be a very versatile set with some surprises that we think you'll like. They are currently in the tooling process.” - Wargames Atlantic
And some other information... the box will have more than one size of Spider, with one fitting a 50mm base, and include some sci-fi bits. I expected a victim wrapped in webs but not sci-fi bits. An interesting decision.
I have been using older GW Fantasy spiders and recently got some other spiders from various producers. It is always a balance of cost versus appearance. I know several folks have made excellent spiders out of Halloween toys but I have not had much success with that so far.
Thanks for the tip Sunjester. I have had mixed results with 3D printed models so far though.

Here is my first attempts at those 3d printed spiders with a 28mm mini for scale.

I wonder what the "surprises" are. Drider parts? Scorpion options?
-
Sci-fi “bugs” along the lines of the Starship Troopers novel?
-
Fair play Sunjester you did a great job on those.
The only surprise teased so far are sci-fi bits but at this point I think anything is possible.
I immediately thought these might be interesting for a Starship Troopers setting.
