So I was looking for solo games whilst the lockdown is on and I came across Rangers of Shadow Deep which looks like it may scratch the itch.
As usual with a new project I like to start a thread on LAF to make a record of progress and hopefully keep me motivated so here goes.
The first mission requires some Zombies, Giant Rats and Giant Spiders, so i picked up a sprue of Fireforge Zombies off ebay and painted them up.
Once i got a recipe for dead flesh it was no different to painting historical figures.
-
There are some great heads on this sprue, I particularly like the chap losing his eye and the head with the broken jaw (ouch)
-
yep - excellent figs - and paint-jobs.
-
Very nice zombies
-
That crow pecking the head is amazing :D
-
I didn't know these zombies existed, really nice !
-
Thanks for taking the time to comment guys :)

Lovely zombies. I look forward to seeing what you do with RoSD. I only started about a month ago and I've really been enjoying it. It has a simple yet elegant game mechanic and a great narrative feel.
-
Thank you, it was reading your thread that nudged me over the edge and back into fantasy :)
-
Handful of figures in the shape of some Giant Rats, my Ranger and his companion armed with a bow.
I'll think of some names for these characters while I get the rest of his team together.
-
The rats are about the size of a large dog, they make my skin crawl I hate rats.
Nearly enough figures completed for scenario 1 of the first mission :)
-
Great brushwork!
-
Very nice.
-
Thanks for commenting both, keeps me going :)
-
Handful of civilians/targets/objectives for the ROSD missions, the chap with his hands in the air could be a low level Cleric I suppose.
-
Very smart! I like the lady on the right. I guess her horse must have fallen at the last fence, or perhaps she forgot to put the bins out. You must be just about ready for a first outing. Have you got some hovels for the village? I've also been working on some figures for this first scenario, but my cardboard houses need some work.
-
Now that you've said that about the lady I cannot unsee it lol.
I have some terrain from my Dark Age collection I hope will do, but I need the rest of the Rangers team and I'm not convinced 6 zombies and 3 giant rats will be enough.
So a few more figures to go then I'll be ready :)
-
Couple more might be good, but remember you will be killing them as they spawn so you don't need the theoretical max number of monsters. Everything looks great so far, look forward to seeing your first game set up.

Thanks for commenting both, its much appreciated :)

The rest of my adventuring party along with some more zombies, because you can never have enough zombies! :-*
