So, the social distancing has had good and bad sides.
Good: I'm getting a lot of building and painting done.
Bad: I've got more time to come up with ideas for new projects,.
Right now, I've got the idea for small unit actions immediately before WWII. As such I'm looking for American Troops that would fit in the late 30's time period. I'm aware of the PulpFigures ‘Americans Abroad'. Are there others I should look at?
For Germans, I figured I'd use generic early war Infantry. Although I wouldn't mind picking up some Kriegsmarine as well,

You won’t find anything for US troops in temperate uniforms for the period but if you are happy to have your US troops in shirtsleeves, I’d recommend having a look at Brigade Games’ Caribbean lines for their US marines and their Wild West range for dismounted US Cavalry circa the Pershing Expedition. The latter are wearing leather leggings so if you wanted infantry in gaiters you might want to apply a file and or putty. The dismounted cavalry are Paul Hicks , so really nice.
If you want cheap and cheerful, Old Glory do a Mexican Expedition range. Allegedly it’s one of their better ranges and pictures seem to bear that out.
Obviously if you want tin hats for any of these you’ll need to supply your own.
Of course in 15mm Eureka do a fairly extensive range of early war US Army, all in tin hats.

Those are the guys I have been using for my 1930s US and Sliver Legion bad guys.

Wouldn't late WW1 doughboys do the trick? Same uniform.

Nope, not the same uniform. Changed in 1926. I’m sure by the late thirties the regular army would have caught up.

I can attest to Old Glory's Pershing Expedition figures being very good figures.

Sadly there's no pictures for most of the Americans in the Old Glory range, it seems? And what scale are they?
