This is an old unit that has seen a lot of action over the years and will need some tarting up for the display game I have planned (for???). :)
I have been dredging through an old laptop that until a couple of days ago refused to start so it is a great relief that many pictures that I thought I had lost permanently are now being retrieved. 8)
Large files of close ups of some of the models on my blog:

They look great. I particularly like the colour palette you've used -very effective.
-
That's a handsome unit.
I hate painting cavalry, but a well painted unit adds a lot to an army/warband, so in the end it's worth the effort.
Great job.

Very nice unit!

Stunning unit!
:-* :-* :-* :-*

Thanks again guys- appreciated :)

Great-looking unit - wonderful paintwork :-*
Love that blue, really contrasts with the browns and beige. I must admit I don't use much blue compared to other colours - in fact I still have some blue triads not much used, but your pict has got me thinking of using them. :)

You got it in one. It is indeed the Deep Blue Triad but with Vallejo Model Colour Ivory added to the middle blue instead of the Deep Blue C.
Many years ago, on the Steve Dean Forum, the man himself, posted up a list of modifications for the Foundry Triads to make them work a little better.
I can post it up if here if you want a gander?

Lovely brushwork mate

This was compiled by Steve Dean as a "fix it" for the Foundry Triad Paints system where the jumps between the actual colours was too stark:
CANVAS 8 – Add quite a lot of B main to C highlight to darken C highlight.
BASE SAND 10 – Darken C highlight with Drab12B.
RAWHIDE 11 – Lighten A shade with B main.
DRAB 12 – Lighten A shade with B main.
TAN 14 – Darken C highlight with B main.
SHADOW PINK 18 – Darken C highlight with B main.
DEEP BLUE 20 – Lighten C highlight with SKY BLUE 21B
SKY BLUE 21 – Darken B main with A shade and darken C highlight with B main.
VIVID BLUE 22 – Darken C highlight with B main.
TOMB BLUE 23 – Darken B main with A shade and darken C highlight with B main.
TEAL BLUE 24 – Add quite a lot of B main to C highlight to darken C highlight.
BRIGHT GREEN 25 – Add quite a lot of B main to C highlight to darken C highlight.
FOREST GREEN 26 – Darken C highlight with B main.
STORM GREEN 27 – Lighten B main with quite a lot of C highlight.
PHLEGM GREEN 28 – Darken C highlight with B main.
MOSS 29 – Lighten A shade with B main and darken C highlight with B main.
GRANITE 31 – Add quite a lot of B main to C highlight to darken C highlight.
SLATE GREY 32 – Darken C highlight with B main.
ARTIC GREY 33 – Lighten A shade with B main.
ARMOUR 35 – Darken A shade with CHARCOL BLACK 34B, darken B main with CHARCOAL BLACK 34B.
SCARLET 38 – Use TERRACOTTA 37B for A shade.
STONE 57B – Darken A shade with CHARCOL BLACK 34B.
BRICK RED 59 – Lighten C highlight with WHITE 33C.
PEATY BROWN 61 – Lighten C highlight with BONE YARD LIGHT 9C
QUAGMIRE 63 – Lighten C highlight with WHITE 33C
I hope it's of some use to you.
In time you learn to moderate your own colours in the same way that you would almost instinctively know how to layer up a colour to a highlight with any other none triad paint.

Thanks :) much appreciated :) :)
I have paint from other ranges, mainly Reaper and Citadel, but I will give Foundry another go 8)

I've got a Vallejo Model Colour triad table somewhere too which is much better then that of the Foundry Triads, both my the masterful Steve Dean.
If I come across it I'll post it up.

Thanks Ken. :)
I've found loads of old pics, mostly rescued of that "steam powered laptop" I keep harping on about. Unfortunately, most of the pics are small in terms pf pixels as they were added to my old website and not my old blog, the latter keeping at least most of the picture quality.

alaovely stuff.

Old photos or not, a unit to be proud of.

Thanks mate- I'm all out of fuel for the Reconquista stuff at the moment so there will be no new units for a little while.
As for this particular unit, it was great to find the old pictures though it did take a long time as the (steam powered!) laptop in question wouldn't connect to Bluetooth nor even the net when plugged into the router! I had to burn everything >:(

Here's a few close up of the Andalusian cavalry:
Files this big are seemingly hard on 28mm mini's :)

Lovely miniatures! Good to see they are still in use - your collection once inspired me to start my own italo-normans, back then in the days of the WAB forum.

That's very kind of you to say so :)
I remember the name of Warboss Nick from the heady days of The WAB Forum very well! Did meet you at Gripping Beast Towers for either Hot Lead or cold Steel? I think it might have been a medieval event ???
-
Unfortunately we did not meet. I had meant to go but in the end couldn’t make the trip. Ah, those memories of the WAB Forum...

Ah..... There's a Warhammer Ancients Facebook Group if you ever fancy a trip down memory lane :)
