Hello ladies and gents,
as I've kicked off my Mortal Gods project on the chaosbunker.de blog, I thought I'd share my progress here in parallel. The forum technology is a bit dated though, so I'll mainly post links leading to the main article. Feedback and critique is welcome at any time!
So, let's get to it - here's the kick off article...
https://www.chaosbunker.de/en/2020/06/05/a-miniature-odyssey-of-mortal-gods-and-inspiration/#more-32362 (https://www.chaosbunker.de/en/2020/06/05/a-miniature-odyssey-of-mortal-gods-and-inspiration/#more-32362)

Very nice!
I like the green.
-
Lovely brushwork....will be a splendid looking unit
-
A bit of things to come - if everything goes the way I've planned, and I'm strangely confident about that, I'll have a whole Mortal Gods Mythic force painted up by Septembre 30th.
-
wow, lovely painting and basing, both living and otherwise.
-
Beautiful!
-
Marvellous ! Nice painting - they look really good
-
Very nice!
I never get tired of seeing skeletons climbing out of the ground.
-
Thanks! The bases weren't done when I posted the pic, but are finished by now. I've already acomplished my goal for the bonus round this way, as they were an extra amount for the Summer Project. That one will start in roundabout two weeks...maybe that's enogh time to add something different as well. How about some greek style Zombies?
-
Looking good!!
-
great stuff and I love the sceletons :-*
Harryhausen would be proud
-
Very nice! I really must start work on my Mortal Gods stuff soon.
-
Great stuff - love the skeleton conversion and the green on the peltast is nice
-
Thanks guys! I've adjusted my schedule a bit and before I paint my mortal forces, I'll fully put my efforts into the undead of Hades. The reason is pretty simple, the Summer Project is based on a time schedule, so I'll have to time everything a bit and as undead always make for a good antagonist, I'll prepare this bunch in order to play a couple of linked scenarios. My intention is to also explain the rules bit by bit within these, so hopefully a couple more players will join in.
So, enjoy the latest article and sell me your soul...uhm...a like on our FB group would do too ;)

Here we go, my priest of Hades, ready to pull back the dead from the depths of the Tartarus. More shots on the Blog.

Got my bonus round finished for the Summer Project! Really eager for the official start of it next week now. Let's see how far I'll get with my army of skeletal greeks.
If you want to take a look at the article you can do so here:

I've had an idea while I was brooding over the skeletons...
Greek Zombies? This guy has been hit by a peltast for example. What do you think...more, or abandon the idea?

The whole Chausbunker crew is participating in the Summer Project and this is my starting article for it. Not much to see yet, but I hope a couple of you guys will stay with me during the upcoming month(s), so I'll simply leave the link here:
https://www.chaosbunker.de/en/2020/07/01/a-miniature-odyssey-start-of-the-summer-project/ (https://www.chaosbunker.de/en/2020/07/01/a-miniature-odyssey-start-of-the-summer-project/)
-
That's very interesting - doing the hobby as a group is a good boost for motivation.
-
Definitely - the tabletopwelt forum is participating with almost 150 people this time. Just seeing what everybody does in that time is quite a motivator.
-
Well, far from an army yet, put we're closing in step by step. The full article is here:
https://www.chaosbunker.de/en/2020/07/06/a-miniature-odyssey-our-arrows/
-
Lovely painting on all of these! I love your groundwork too
-
Thanks! I tried to make the base a bit more interesting than usual, as the skeletons themselves are usually rather boring. Might pep some of them up with warpaint in the next regiments though. I know, I know..."on skeletons", but it'll simply make them more interesting. Maybe some kind of ritual paintings to breathe new life into them.
In the meanwhile I finished the first bock of the Summer Project from the german tabletopforum.
-
Fantastic work and great to see them all together.
I'm looking forward to the next batch!
-
It took me a while, but the article for the first block is finally ready:
https://www.chaosbunker.de/en/2020/07/30/a-miniature-odyssey-block-1-done/ (https://www.chaosbunker.de/en/2020/07/30/a-miniature-odyssey-block-1-done/)
In the meanwhile I'm painting up the next batch and have just reached the "brake". There is a brake hiding somewhere on every mini, a spot that'll take you noticably longer or is less fun than the rest of the mini. In this case it's the spears, where I have to paint on fin lines to mimic a wooden look. The alternative would be to paint the spears in a blueish black, like the bows from the archers. Though this would only shift the problem to "Where to place the armycolor". I'll have to think about that, though painting up the sields partly in black will probably be my approach to this.
-
Some lovely brushwork, here.
:-* :-*
I like the cohesive look that you are getting with a army made of bone, very nice.

Painting skills here are astonishing!
-
yes, love your painting style.
-
Thanks everyone! :) I have completed the second block of the Summer Project and wrote the according article. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Wonderful minis, sir.
The color scheme is very simple, but very effective, and your painting is very good.
And the last picture is just :-*
-
Nice project with great results. :-*
Looks like you are going to have an excellent army there.
I especially like the leader with his helmet and cuirass. Based on him, are you planning to do anymore armored dudes? You should be able to make a really 'worth dying for' ::) phalanx.
I'd skip the zombies 'cause the skeletors are coming out so very well. But that is your call, not mine.
-
Thanks everyone, it has been fun so far!

I've used up all my full skeletons that I had, so no plans for that, plus, I'd be lacking enough Victrix Hoplites for the conversions. It weally wouldn't be hard, but you're essentially using up two minis for one at that point.
For now though, I've had enough bonecolor to paint :D So I think I'll give the Zombies a go, just to break things up a bit. As I have only two bases of archers though, I might make archers of them and maybe a bunch of Peltast. I know, I know, technically undead have no peltast, but in theory I could just fill the ranks with some living units, which might also happen...
-
All done! I'm getting my parts for Zombies this week though, so I guess I'll be expanding.
The article is here:

-
Wonderful stuff - well done! :-*
-
Thanks! I'll have to paint up some terrain over time too, so I'll be able to make some more interesting scenic shots. In the meanwhile I've been converting...

-
crikey, those skeletons are brilliant !
-
Thanks. Giving them good poses was quite flimsy, but I think the effect is absolutely worth it. Aaaand they're painted quickly.
-
This is a great project can't wait to see more.
-
@Golgotha, currently times are a bit turbulent in my private life, but I'm trying to squeeze in as much time as possible to get the Zombies on the table.
In the meanwhile I'm preparing more stuff for a campaign and the article series that will go along:

I needed a little change, so I decided to paint up the first of my mortal troops - okay I admit, it's also a little practice before I tackle a...special four legged project...
-
The guy is done! I'll write a little article about the paints and so on in the upcoming days. It was quite a learning experience, as I tried a couple of new things on the mini. Up next...something four legged...
-
Excellent painting! :-*
-
Great work !
-
Beautiful! :-*
You really have a fantastic painting style! Very smooth!
-
Indeed - looks great!

Lovely painting and also fantastic photos!
I am really enjoying this thread. We seem to be doing something simialar at the moment, just my greeks and undead are in the snow and yours somewhere warmer :D
-
Thanks everyone, I just hope I can keep the energy before somethin else starts to distract me :D
@Steam Flunky, so it seems! Well, what can I say, undead are just a thankful army in every setting!
The article is ready now too, with a couple more angle shots and some explanations on the painting. You can find the complete article here:
