on the site it says i have to pay even though its free, has someone already done it

It's free if you're already a WI magazine subscriber, otherwise you have to pay.
If you log in to your account first it should show as free, although it took me a couple of tries on some of the issues

You have to put them in your “cart” and then checkout. As a member it will show as zero cost and then you can download it.
