Fistful of Lead fans asked for a space fighter game and here it is - Fistful of Lead: Starfighters!
As with previous Fistful of Lead rules each player only needs 5 or 6 fighters to start gaming. You can play 1-on-1 games or larger skirmishes with up to 6 or 8 players. In playtest, we had a 10 player game with 50 ships on a 8' x 6' table and played in 2 1/2 hours.
This book contains rules for building your flight and how to set up different scenarios. A few genre options are provided to get you started as well as some rules for taking it up in scale and using Fleet ships. Most players of any age will pick up the game mechanics quickly, even those who have never played a wargame before.
Starfighers! was not meant with any particular miniature line in mind. You can use whatever miniature space ships you have. There are many popular lines out there to choose from and some are very affordable on discount sites.
This IS NOT a theoretical recreation of fighter on fighter space combat, but rather a Hollywood take on dogfighting in the dark depths of space.
This IS a great way to spend an hour or two having fun with your friends, playing with spaceships and yelling "PEW! PEW! PEW!"

-
Great news! Ordered!
-
I'll let people know once it lands :)
-
Oshiro, as soon as it lands I want a copy,
will want Bigger Battles too.
-
Love the cover!
-
Is this set self contained or an add on to the core Rules?
-
Stand Alone but makes a great addition to Galactic Heroes.
-
I've played it and thoroughly enjoyed it. My xwing miniatures will get way more use now. I'm also annoyingly tempted by a few fleets of retro starships.
It's very flexible. With a bit of background on the particular ship you wish to create, you can easily put together examples from your favourite sci-fi films, TV programmes or books. It's got me looking for Vipers and raiders now.
-
Oooooh...... I like the sound of this. Maybe this will translate over to sci-fi sub combat with a bit of tweaking. lol
-
Actually mate, I think it would. Depending on the tech level you want, it probably wouldn't need much tweaking either. A few additions to reflect the fact that it's water (sea monsters using traits from the regular FfoL books) and you're all set.
-
Excellent! I don't care much for overly technical rules anyway. Cinematic over MilSim any day.
-
Come meet the Maniac, uglies!
Descent: Freespace and Wing Commander...now to just find some 3d models to print...
Freespace 1/2 and WC 1,2, and Prophecy have to be my favorite video games of all time.
-
I don't know what that means....... :?
-
Excellent! Jay how soon before you do a PDF for it? I’m in Australia :)

Maniac was one of the fighter pilots in the Wing Commander series, and one of his battle cries was 'Come meet the Maniac, uglies!'
