Having got tremendously excited by Infamy, Infamy, I rushed off and bought a load of 1st Corps Early Germans. And now I see that Little Bigmen Studios doesn't do shield transfers for 1st Corps. Does anyone know if any of the other LBMS Early German transfers will be around the right size for 1st Corps?

Check with them.
LBMS doesn't list the Roman decals they make for them online. You have to get them through 1st Corps.

From what I can see neither LBMS or 1st Corps produce suitable transfers. From what I recall of the 1st Corps shields have very large spines which may make the application of decals difficult.

Ok, back to old school methods.. hand painting .. they will be unique. And I can always look at the LBMS decals for inspiration. I also discovered some decal paper down in the bowels of a drawer, so I can have a go at that for common motifs over a painted background.

I used these decals from VVV (currently sold by Magister Militum) on my 1st Corps Celts, should be ok for Germans, they have others as well.

Thanks, that's not a bad idea. I will have a think about it.
