Title: Ethiopian–Egyptian War of 1874 to 1876 Books?
Post by: Atheling on July 04, 2020, 02:28:03 PM
Hi,

I've been delving the depths of the internet looking for books that cover the Ethiopian–Egyptian War of 1874 to 1876 in English.

I'm stumped.

I would be very grateful if anyone make any suggestions please?

There is nothing around on this topic..except an article from a very old wargame magazine..when I’ll find it I’ll write you back ..
Many years ago , really many years ago as I was preparing my university thesis I found on the archive of the Italo/African Institute (former Colonial Museum of Rome) now a semi unknown and neglected archive inside the zoo of Rome , a big folder with plenty of battle histories , big detailed battle maps and line drawings on this very subject ..they were hand written at the time of the events probably by an Italian Missionary..probably Card Massaia who was a counselor and very well inside the Ethiopian Imperial Court..I thought about photocopying everytinhing and maybe publish something ..then nothing as many of my projects ...but who knows? Maybe one day I’ll go again among those entire shelfs of abandoned files that had probably never been opened since 1935!

Ah...... that explains why i wouldn't find anything  lol

I do find it a bit odd that this 'section' of history seems to have had so little written about it in English.
