Title: Stone Enclosures
Post by: marianas_gamer on July 05, 2020, 08:54:33 AM
I have been working on building some new stone enclosures for my Pacific games.  I plan on using these enclosures to protect some sugarcane patches in my Colonial games but expect to use them for my Dayaks as well (not sure how appropriate they are for Dayaks but I will be happy to say that they are local adaptations if pushed on it. Heck they will probably end up in China too). As usual, my bases are cork coasters cut to shape. The masonry is cut cork tile. Here is an example of a completed build and one with the first course laid.

I think this same technique would work well for Greek sheepfolds and Afghan sangars. More as it progresses.

I like the look of the texture of the cork for broken stone- I look forward to seeing them painted.

I finished up and painted one of the enclosures. Here is a pic without any cane. Expanded there are other options, animal pens, hasty fortifications, foundations for temporary residences, etc.

Here it is with the sugar cane in place. These are pre-painted sugar cane that I bought online. They look good enough that I didn't do anything to them.

Effective.  And sugar cane isn't something often modeled in a war game.  Mind if I ask where you got it, please?

Useful quick and effective.  Very nice build altogether.

I know this will not help you marianas but for those in the states Hobby lobby carries them too.  I ordered my corn stalks through them using one of their coupons and picked them up for just around half price.  I would have never tried full fields at the regular price.

Those look excellent. I think I’ll give that a go myself.
