I've got a long-term thread (https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=69196.1485) over in the Future Wars section, but have never really delved long and deep enough into fantasy figures to warrant the same approach here. But I've got a couple of fantasy projects on the go and thought it might be a good opportunity to collect everything in one thread!
To kick things off, here is the small selection of the few fantasy figures I've painted over the last couple of years.

As and when I paint up some new fantasy figures, I'll keep this post updated. Hope you like them :)
-
Some great looking figures (and paint jobs) I hadn’t seen before, thanks for sharing. :)
-
great stuff. Love the warband.
-
That warband is ace!
I really like the conversion of Ghan-buri-Ghan as well, very clever.
-
Thanks all! It was a fun warband to put together. They're all old Citadel figures, but collected from numerous ranges (pre-slotta fantasy, Warhammer, Eternal Champion and AD&D).
@Rick W - glad you like Ghan-buri-Ghan reinterpreted! Sourcing a companion for Hawkmoon that matched Moorcock's description proved impossible, so I had to make my own :)
-
Your choice of SPLENDIDLY imaginative miniatures is almost as WONDERFUL as your brushwork & basing. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Nicely done 8)
-
Where is the guy with the bow from? In the third picture, standing beside the tiger.
Great stuff :D
-
love the Hawkmoon figure too.
-
Thanks all! Glad you like them.

He's a conversion from a Citadel AD&D hobgoblin! I sculpted the beard and hat

I've made the start on a new fantasy skirmish warband, primarily for Mordheim, but with a view to Frostgrave as well.
The warband is designed around Citadel's 1984 pre-slotta Lone Wolf Citadel Guard, with some added conversions and figures to fit the aesthetic.

The captain was converted from a Citadel Felix Jaeger figure:

Good job, you can never go wrong with horns on your helmet.
-
Those lads are great! Wonderful color development.
-
Great concept an execution, especially the conversion work on the Captain. Brilliant distressing on the cloaks.
-
Thanks all! The cloaks are my favourite element of the group I think :)

Great conversion!
I love the new warband and the Felix conversion is excellent!
-
what wonderful figs and paint jobs. (*and greenstuff skill!)
-
Thanks batu & Bloggard!
Some new additions to my Lone Wolf Citadel Guard now. All 3 are converted (2 simple headswaps and 1 more complex):

A great looking group - sensible conversions and lovely paint jobs
:)
-
Thanks AKULA. I generally try and make conversions tie in with the overall look - here there's a nice static regimented swagger that I was trying to mimic.

Mission accomplished I would say. Amazing warband.

A real unique look, They are great

A new foray for me in the form of some 3D printed terrain I picked up from ebay. This was bit of any experiment with a lower price point product and some cheap spray paints.
All in all, I'm pretty happy with the results. I know the print lines show in the photos but at 2ft away on the tabletop, you barely notice them.

Look great and I thought they were chisel marks form the stonemason 😉
-
I could happily go with them being chisel marks :D

Continuing my current theme, I've painted a pair of wizards to go with my Citadel Guard, allowing me to field an instand Frostgrave warband. The two wizards riff on the sun iconography sported by the Citadel Guard, flipping the colour scheme to something richly gold and yellow with blue accents (the reverse of the blue and steel with yellow accents).
Both figures are converted entirely from my bits box. The apprentice with the staff originated as a Citadel fighter, whilst the wizard is based on the later Warhammer Empire character Balthasar Gelt.

Both are awesome. The face mask is great. Fantastic work als always.
-
Thanks batu! The mask was the key to linking the two figures together - I think it was worth the time to cover up the underlying face.
-
Very cool thread, are those guards heads from Eureka miniatures?

Thanks! No, the Guard heads were some I commissioned for the project by sculptor John Pickford (you can see some of his other work at Foundry, Otherworld and Crooked Dice amongst others).
-
Continuing with the same warband, I've added a couple of crossbowmen. Both are Citadel figures, on the left the bandit from the Lone Wolf range, and on the right a Bretonnian / feudal crossbowman.

I love these and I hope this thread gets as long as your rogue trader thread. Your stuff is simply outstanding. It has a balance of skill and character that is seldom seen. One of my favorite posters on LAF for sure. Thanks for posting and keep it up! :-*
-
Thanks Timotl :) I'll definitely do my best to juggle between this and the sci-fi thread - really pleased you like what I'm making!
-
Missed this thread - love them all! The sorcerors are incredible!
-
Glad you like them Jagannath! They were really fun to make and paint.
-
Cool additions! What's next?

Thanks! I have plenty of options - a couple of ranger types, some duellists, a handful of scummy hangers on, and possibly some other humanoid races :)

"summy hangers" :-*

I ended up going with the duellists for the next additions to the warband. The models are from the Warhammer regiment of renown, Vespero's Vendetta.

Nice- that was a really underrated range.

Nice- that was a really underrated range.
There's been numerous occasions where I've wished I picked up some of the regiments when they were available. Because of course now they're pretty uncommon and desirable :(
-
Another new addition to my Citadel Guard - this time a grizzled swordsman. He's from the same pack of duellists as the previous two figures, but I just added a shield, new head and did a little tweaking with some greenstuff.

That's a lovely conversion.
-
That's brilliant. Very jealous of these :-)
-
Very nice 8)
Is that a printed shield?
-
Lovely job, this is turning into a brilliant little group
-
Thanks all! The end result should be a nice selection of themed models that I can use in a variety of games :)
Is that a printed shield?
It is - another hobbyist is working on a parallel project in a similar vein and sent me some to use :)
