Title: Mutant Chronicles WARZONE - (NEW: Dragoon Squad)
Post by: Katsuhiko JiNNai on July 12, 2020, 01:39:32 AM: I returned to my first wargame love and decided to start to paint some Mutant Chronicles/Warzone miniatures and maybe play with the first edition Warzone rulebooks (if I find some players) and with Pulp Alley and even Palaeo Diet: Pulp (for SOLO Games if I do not find players).
My first miniature is an Imperial Hunter. I tried to paint it with its original paint scheme. I will paint 6 more miniatures with the same paint scheme.

I've painted three more Imperial "Hunters".
I'm considering if include some details, like some camouflage in their faces and the sergeant or captain imperial ranks in their shoulders or knees.
I Still need to paint 3 more Hunter troopers.

I've painted three more Imperial Hunters and added some rank insignia, now the squad include 7 models, but I should still need 3 miniatures if I want to play with a 500pt official 1st edition Warzone list. However I can yet use this squad with Pulp Alley and Palaeo Diet Pulp rules.

Back in the day, I considered the 1ed Cybertronic faction a weaker one, sculpt-wise, but they are certainly growing on me, especially since they are not as stylistically tied to the Warzone universe as the others (e.g. WW1 aesthetics in space, more shoulderpads than on an 1980s Ladies' night at the discotheque).

Yes, as for my oldhammer miniatures, I'm trying to paint my Warzone miniatures with an old school paint scheme.
Many of the Warzone miniatures are still available from Prince August. I bought a lot some time ago, with 30% discount and no shipping cost.

I still had a Void Junkers Vulture Standard Bearer missing its sword and vulture insignia, then I decided to do some little conversions and use it as a female Cybertronic Chasseur or ex-Cybertronic Hired Gun. I was ispired by the Art of the cyborg Fay Fan from the "Luna City" tale. I just included a plastic GW sword and a Punisher Pistol with a plastic sight.

I painted a Cartel agent that is fine for the character of Lane Chung, from the "Luna City" story.
I'm planning to paint all the 5 main characters from that story. Actually I've yet painted Yojimbo (the leader of the group) too.

Here a really old project. If I remember well I thought about it at least 20 years ago (or even more).
Actually my idea was simple, to convert the head of the first edition cardinal dominic as the helm with mask of the main villain from the Knights of the Zodiac (Saint Seiya) cartoon: Pope Ares. I'm not good with green matter, then I have commissioned the conversion and then painted the miniature.

Warzone 1st edition miniatures are not so bad, just the miniatures sculpted by Tim Prow could have bad proportions (he was a newbie at the time). In fact almost all the imperial, bauhaus and mishima are good, and the dark legion don't need to care much for it (they are monsters o zombies). Unfortunately the Brotherhood of 1st edition was almost all done by tim prow, then some miniatures are even ugly (as elite trooper sergeant, assassin, inquisitor majoris). The concept and design of the Fury Elite Guards is still good, if only they could had a smaller head/helmet ;)
2nd edition miniatures have better proportions, but I feel that they lost some of the Mutant Chronicles charm. However I have taken the second edition brotherhood miniatures.

Now the furies are faster, they can move 4" for action, they have 5 actions then they could charge after 20", the pilgrims have a better grenade launcher with armor piercing grenades, the maximum range is now 20" instead only the normal range of 10". The Pilgrim Executioner could be devastating in close combat, it can parry shooting too and if using the Art spell of flight he can move 10" for action, then if using 3 actions he can charge to 30". The teleportation, instead used to teleport the brotherhood models, can be used to teleport an enemy model near the brotherhood force, then any brotherhood omodel in waiting or activated by give order could fire or charge it.

Really? Actually I buy them usually for about 2-3 euro each on trade groups, just some rare miniatures for 5-8 euro each. Even the prices on prince august are not high (average prices as other shops, like scotia grendel, wargame foundry etc) and often they offer discounts of 25% and free shipping.

I think the venusians rangers and dragoons were sculpted by tim prow.
At least these ones were some of his better sculpts, some others (especially brotherhood) were quite ugly with bad proportions.

I read somewhere that carpenter wanted to do a good Mutant Chronicles movie, but he could never do it, then later it was finally done but with it was quite unsatisfactory (I've seen it).
