These arrived today,my first Samurai type minis, wish me luck lol

:D

Ok,so these minis arrived this week, ready to scratch my Seven Samurai itch. :)
I've always fancied this range from Northstar and thought I'd give them a go.
Not being up on samurai paint schemes I thought I'd use the artwork on the box set as a guide and follow it as far as my paint skills allow lol.
These are the first two,not characters from the movie but I thought they were a good place to start.
I've ordered flowery Tufts for the bases to inject a little Eastern flavour to them :)Two more minis underway, I'll post in due course.
Thanks for looking in :)

That was quick! They look great 8)

Thanks mate, don't think the rest will be as quick! lol

Very nice indeed. Could the older looking gent be Richard Chamberlain?

Thanks Colin, this is not the "next big thing though",just scratching an itch ;) :)

Here's the first two of the "seven" completed.
As previously mentioned I'm using the box art as a guide as far as possible.
I've included the originals from the first post as I've now added some flowers to titivate (buzz word lol) their bases.
Two more underway.
Thanks for looking in :)

I have a few old Citadel Samurai types in my 'scratch an itch' pile too.
I far prefer unarmoured figures from the period and these look similar.
Now be a good chap and stop posting this stuff as the pile is big enough already.

Bloody hell, you're a painting machine! Great period to dabble in and lovely work mate. If you need some buildings I know a bloke who 'dabbles' too! lol
(Top buildings and well worth it, but don't let him get too big headed!)

Thanks Steve, yes it's fun so far and I'm enjoying it .
In fact it's the "dabbler's" fault I've fallen down this rabbit hole for sharing his titivations! lol

How many figures do you reckon you'll go for?

Well, my Northstar Bandit Buntai arrived today, lovely minis, lots of character in the sculpts :)
,only downside they didn't arrive in a lovely case with colour pictures to use as a guide as in the first box :?
Hey ho! Onwards and upwards,as they say lol.
-
Good luck with these Keith
Why no box?
Should there be one or can you find pics online?

Hi Colin
Don't know about the box, I did email them when I got the minis but no reply :?
I can find the pics on the Northstar site for reference so no biggie :)
I've started on the minis and completed half of them, just waiting on some walls from James to picture them in front of. :)
Cheers
Keith

The lack of the box may be down to many things such as no stock.
My latest order from Northstar for some Crusader WW2 Germans had some in blister packs and some in plastic bags, same from Wargames Foundry.
Blister packs just get used as mixing containers for brush on primer when I don’t have other suitable containers.

You are right, Colin. When Northstar released them they had boxes (I think Video-Cases) with nice printed pictures and stats for the Osprey ronin game. But it seems, that the number is always limited. I got some copplestone without blister. Are it brings advantage for p&p. But who news? One of the Nottingham mysteries, we as outsiders won’t find out...

Here are the bandits I've painted up so far :)

nice and quick too :-* :-* :-*

I plan to make pictures when I find space for it. My time for hobby is very limited and I use all for Painting. I work the whole lockdown, so not more time for hobby.
Keith, when you got the chance to get some figures from the range "Ronin Hood" you should take them. They are very nice. The guy who sold them is member here, but I think real life took him out of the hobby. The range is so woderful and they fit well with the ronin-stuf from northstar
-
Thanks Dirk, they sound interesting, can't seem to find images of them though :?
-
Hi Dirk, are these the minis you're talking about?
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ronin-hood-28mm-samurai-skirmish-miniatures#/ (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ronin-hood-28mm-samurai-skirmish-miniatures#/)
If so I'd love to know how to contact their creator to get a hold of some myself! :-*
-
It was the project of BoF-Miniatures. I think the Name here is AndyW, hope he will come back. Had short contact beginning of this year, but nothing since then. Hope he will return, the figures are wonderful, so full of character. Maybe you find some pictures, when you use a Wayback-machine. Try to do some pictures at the weekend.

The final four minis from the Bandit Buntai, posing in front of some Oshiro walls.
Followed by a group shot of the full set from Northstar :)
Thanks for looking in :)

Nice work, mate.
I like them a lot.
Most 'lush' as the old hipsters around here say.

Nice job on the Oshiro Model Terrapin stuff too.

Just get some of his other stuff, Tarkers, and whack 'em with a hammer a few times.
It could be quicker...

The amount of drinks that would require could involve having to take out a loan, though!
