Two magnificent armies! Terrific work.
I am building a Roman army using Warlord Games figures (mainly) just now. I see from your blog that the commanders and some (all?) of the cavalry are from Victrix. I have Warlord cavalry - are they about the same size?

Warlords are smaller than Victrix - we just preferred the Victrix cavalry. All the infantry were bought cheap on ebay over the last three years

Looks superb! :-*

Thats an epic table and armies, well done !

Many thanks. I got my infantry cheap too over the last couple of years - ebay, bring & buy etc.

Two questions,
1) How many figures make up the forces?
2) How long did it take you to paint all that?
They are amazing.
-
Eric,
That is what I would an army! Are all the cavalry Victrix, they seem to fit in with the warlord stuff and don't look too out of place?

There are about 600 figures on each side - half are legionnaries - around 260 figures. Took four months to paint ...details here http://shedwars.blogspot.com/2019/09/imperial-roman-army-assembles-part-1.html (http://shedwars.blogspot.com/2019/09/imperial-roman-army-assembles-part-1.html)

All of my cavalry are Victrix and Infantry Warlord - the Victrix men are bigger but because they are mounted its not so noticeable

Amazing!

Nowhere near enough figures.
You are such a slacker, Giles ;)
Okay, you win, you undoubtedly have the most toys :)

13ft x 6ft - it can be bigger ;)

Wow! 600 hundred a side makes 1,200 figures in 4 months.
That is 300 figures a month. I could never do that.

True enough! :-*
In this case, however, I could have easily predicted that the Romans were going to win. :D

Now that's what ancient battles should look like.
Well done!
