Title: Bit of a question regarding german vehicles! And the availability thereof.
Post by: FreakyFenton on August 12, 2020, 11:29:32 PM
Hey LAF Hivemind,

I have a question, or several if you'd like. Namely if anyone produces the following vehicles as kits for 28mm or 1/56 scale?

Namely, the SWS or Schwerer Wehrmachts Schlepper? (Conversion could be easy enough, but the tracks are a bit odd.)

The "Leichtes Gebirgs Räder-Kettenfahrzeug"?  Bit of a prototype and I am afraid only thing close is the one the Perry's do which is of the same principle but fully enclosed.

The "Praga T9 Kettenschlepper" or "Kettenschlepper T9"? (Though suppose Paint and Glue Miniatures russian halftrack might be conversion ripe in this case.)

AND FINALLY this vehicle, the "Radschlepper Ost" or "RSO", I've seen them before, sort of found them interesting looking, but after a brief feature in a Spirou comic, it sort of provided my wargamer-brain with enough interest in it to use it as a means of transport for some Pulp baddies.

Either way, I'll gladly take recommendations of manufacturers. Or perhaps even tips on how to convert some of these myself. The best would be if someone had an easy to follow guide of such vehicles detailing a scratchbuilt I could steal look at for ideas.

Thank you for looking and stay healthy!

The Skoda RSO is a different beast to that one. It is a big Arty tractor.

And wheeled. It's not helped by the fact that "Radschlepper Ost" and "Raupenschlepper Ost" have the same abbreviation, though one was made by Skoda and the other by Steyr.

I take it 1/56 is a given? If not, Gaso.Line had a 1/48 scale kit back in the late 1990s.

Oh no worries, thanks for looking, that was my bad. It is a bit misleading. That RSO is really nice though, might have to get one from Rubicon. Thus far only have a few Warlord and Waffenkammer ones. The latter being okay the former are horrible in some respects.

Damnit, that's probs hard to come by. Would have been a good starting point though. Thank you either way though, might have to scour the net for one of these.

Indeed! A quite remarkable looking one at that!  :D Think it features in this story! https://www.comic.de/2017/04/spirou-und-fantasio-spezial-22-belgisch-kongo-1947/

Hrm suppose I'll have to do with some conversions of available kits. And find a solution for those wheels of the Radschlepper Ost. Hrm. Look like tractor tires, might have to check commerical tractor kits for similiar ones.  o_o

Thank you all for looking though! Appreciated!
