I'm gonna use this thread to log my ongoing Barons war project, may take a while but should hopefully build slowly over the next few months
-
A fine start! 8)
-
Lovely :)
-
Great brushwork on some exceptional mini's :-*
-
Lovely stuff matey!!
-
Looks great! Love the shields...
Mike Demana
-
Lovely, look forward to your project
Cheers
Matt

They’re looking good. I’m holding on for the delivery of the latest KS before starting mine so shall be following this thread closely. Crack on :)
-
Thanks for all the kind comments, next batch of knights on the table at the moment 😁
-
4 more knights added today, painted up 2 as William Marshalls retinue, don't know if that's historical or not
-
Great work mate. I do not know about William Marshal’s retinue but I do know I like how your minis look!
-
Splendid additions 8)
-
Fab stuff.... nice and battle worn :-* :-* :-*
-
Very nice!
-
They look perfect! Great choice of colours. And the shield weathering is excellent.
-
Painted up William Marshall and his banner bearer at the weekend, starting to run out of miniatures to paint so will have to place an order for more soon, planning the buildings is up next as well
-
Struggled a bit with the free hand, but it will do for a wargames table, William Marshall on horseback.
-
They look excellent. Nice crisp lines on the Bishop’s heraldry - I’m dreading doing him.
-
Very nicely done. :)
I painted him up as a fictional character that way I didn't have to paint all the lions. ;) lol
-
They're quite lovely Olyreed! :-*
-
Thanks for the kind replies, managed some paint on the Footsore free miniature today, Llywellyn ap Gruffudd
-
Nice Oly 8)
A lovely gritty look to boot.
-
Wow, great painting! I'm very impressed with the barding too.
-
Thanks people, I was never interested in this period, but I the Footsore Miniatures have definitely pushed me down the black hole
-
Bendigedig!
-
Taking a break from the minis to do some terrain, 1st up is a church, inspired by Jimbibblys. No where near up to his standard but for a first go quite pleased with it
-
That looks pretty darn good! Well done.
-
Nicely done :)
-
Looks great to me! Definitely one to be proud of!
-
:Thanks for the kind comments, back to the miniatures for a bit then I might try my hand at some village buildings. Again I may have to use Jimbibblys work for inspiration
-
Lovely church to go with some cracking figures - highly impressed with you freehand Heraldry.
I really like the weathering - proper trudging about in an English field beating the crap out of people look - spot on!
-
Congratulations Oly the church really looks excellent and is a real compliment to your Baron's War collection:-*
Can I ask did you use the this plastic 'stonework' or the thicker, smaller pieces (I forget who makes them ??? ).
Or is it carved into foamboard?
-
It was the plasticard sheets from antics online. Very useful😁
-
That looks really impressive.

I think I know the one you mean Oly.
A most excellent result that's for certain 8)
-
It is a lovely church build although personally if I'd have done it I would have gone for the established Romanesque look to make it look more deeply rooted in the landscape... Early English and pointed arches appeared from 1180 so your church is in the fashionable new style for the 1st Baron's War and on point for the 2nd. But I'm a big fan of Romanesque anyways...
-
Great build Oly
-
I purchased the Sarrisa precision manor house last week. So have it a quick plasta and paint. Think I could do a lot better but it will look fine on the table. Also managed some archers and more spearmen
-
Very nice figures and terrain. :-* :-* :-*
Will certainly follow your work.
-
Great work!
-
More great brushwork. 8)
The Norman Manner came out really well to boot. 8)
-
Well a bit of an update, manor house is based. Some monks and Robert Fitzwalter and standard bearer painted up
-
Lovely collection of miniatures and the manor house turned out perfectly. Great work!
-
Completion on the Milities Christi monks tonight. B came a bit of a chore but glad they are done
-
Time for a group shot of what's been painted except the monks. Plenty left to go and the Kickstarter is due before Christmas 😀
-
Mounted knights up next, sort of happy with the heraldry but need to improve it in places😀
-
Very nice mate :)
-
Managed to get the foot Knights all painted up over Christmas, so waiting on Kickstarter 2 now to continue on with the project
-
Fantastic! These are really great miniatures, and your painting does them justice. I particularly like the mud!
What new releases are planned for the second kickstarter?
-
They look the bees knees :-*
I must admit, unlike it seems everybody else, I’m not a massive fan of the figures. Some of them seem a little bit, I dunno... scratchy-looking to me (and I speak as a fully paid up subscriber to the Hicks fan club).
But they do paint up very nicely, and you’ve really done them justice.
-
Bravo :-*
-
Thanks for the kind comments, Kickstarter 2 has sergeants, more knights, levy and crossbow men, think Kickstarter 3 has villagers and terrain
-
Lovely paintjob on those miniatures including the heraldry.
-
Brilliant work!
