I got interested in Frostgrave a few years back, but at the time, I was neck-deep in my own historical homebrew projects which evolved from a 6mm big battle set of rules into 15mm multi-base rules... until I got tired of tinkering on rules that I didn't have interested friends to play with. And then the pandemic hit!
With the release of Frostgrave 2e, I thought I'd get back into the game.
The prospect of using any figures I want to represent the soldiers has got my creative juices flowing... to the point I now have three warbands in various states:
1. Chaos-ish dwarves that are more skeleton and zombie than murder-machine chaos types.
2. Folklore witches / trolls binding the souls of wicked boys and girls to monstrous teddy bears and burlap rag dolls.
3. Retro-futurism and art deco inspired robots with a science fantasy angle to them.
This is my first time with 28mm+ minis since high school 20 years ago. I'm not much of a modeler or painter, but I'm enjoying the creativity! Stay tuned!

For my robot cult, it's a mix of manufacturers with all models getting at least some conversions - a few pretty significantly
- Retro robot archers are from Hydra Miniatures
- Floating wizard and the two female robots (with claws and the axe) are Warhamchine Convergence of Cryriss
- Three-legged "hounds" are from 40k Blackstone Fortress, as is the electro-priest looking guy with the open tome
- The "houndsman" is a Reaper base
- The other, hooded human figure is from Scibor
These ended up being significantly larger than the other minis in the other warbands - but I'm not helped by using dwarves and small ragdolls in those contexts, either.
I finished priming these this morning and gave them a quick base wash for contrast.

Some additional close ups.
Like I said, I'm still getting the hang of conversions with green stuff, pinning, etc. But they look okay enough from tabletop length.

Not a fancy update, but my eclectic warband of undead dwarf types continues to grow. Here's the latest additions after I've finished converting them.

As if my over-active imagination wasn't sticking me with enough thematic warbands, here's the fourth:
A historic(...ish, mostly), late 1500s warband, teleporting through space and time through some devilry to the frozen ruins of Felstad.
Going to stop it here and actually think about painting these guys, now.

They are some creative warbands.
Good luck with the painting, I look forward to seeing how they turn out.

all looks bloomin' marvellous to me :-*

They all look great! If they were mine I wouldn't be able to decide which to start first!

Thanks, guys. The prospect of using any model you want for Frostgrave has really unleashed my creative juices.
As I get into the weeds, I'm much less enthused for all the additional monster figures that are called for, as well as scenario-specific terrain. It doesn't make for as easy an investment as, say, Mordheim, but we'll see.
Got the Grimm Bro's dark fairy tale inspired warband of witch trolls with the souls of wicked boys and girls bound to teddy bears and burlap rag dolls all based, primed, and washed. So that's fun.
